#0384 - Fireworks, Vomit, Broken Bones, And Other American Traditions - 06/30/2026
Speaker 1: Howdy all and welcome to the program. Happy Tuesday. Let's try this again. About 24 hours ago. Was sitting in here. Monday. Was not feeling very nice. Injured myself over the weekend. Screwed my wrist all up.
They don't believe it's broken, but it doesn't feel nice. And as I started actually having to use it a little bit yesterday, because I've I've got a lot of gear here I need to run. Uh the pain started making me feel like I was gonna puke everywhere.
So about uh 7 30, I decided, okay, we're we're just gonna call it for the day. Go back home and feel miserable for a while. You know, got some rest. But then of course, when it came to bedtime, can I get to sleep? No.
No. Got myself in bed at a reasonable time. No, it's just doom myself to a day of ugh. Well, gotta get charged up this week. It is 4th of July week, and of course, we got the Idaho Falls Community Hospital Riverfest, presented by ICCU and River River Bend Media Group. It's going down all day Saturday. Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls. All culminates with the biggest firework show west of the Mississippi, the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration. The final Melaleuca Freedom Celebration if you've never been out to it. This is the year to go check it out.
So the festivities kick off nice and early on the 4th of July. And I hope to see you there. And then what else we got going on this week? Hooking up Papa Roach tickets and more. Keeping nice and busy. Just hoping that by uh Saturday I'm in tip top shape.
Today I'm in shape. I'm here for now. We'll see how it goes. Alright, people. Let's party. Let's begin.
Let's do this. I don't know if our phones are working. JD just called me on my cell. Like, we're gonna turn the phones on.
Like they should be on. Let me try calling them. See if I've got the same problem. Cause we can't really give away Papa Roach tickets if the phone ain't working. Uh wow. Yeah.
That would be the phone not working. Okay. Great. Well, sir, if you can't reach me right now, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Or shoot me an email. Victor at Kbear.fm. Fantastic. Broken stuff.
Alright. Well, at least they don't. It ain't only me that's broken this morning. And Jade should be here in about an hour and a half. I'll get him to fix it.
I would imagine something behind the scenes needs reset. Or something like that. So yeah, Papa Roach tickets are up for grabs. Show's coming up on the 23rd of July with Set It Off and Autumn Kings.
It's going down at the Port Nefeltrust Amphitheater in Pokey. Uh right now, since you can't win tickets from me, why don't you go buy some? Go to our concert calendar at KBar.fm and uh buy them. Get yourself some tickets for the show. Cause it's gonna be sweet. Alright.
Well, I guess instead of doing some ticket giveaways, I'll find something to talk about, okay? So Saw some video floating around of that band. Uh playing live from over the weekend. What am I talking about?
I wasn't even looking at tool. Sorry, I'm still a little bit uh mentally distracted today. I'm doing better than I was yesterday, but you know, and you you got just the constant throbbing pain that kind of makes your your guts hurt, and it's just there. It's distracting. Distracting to say the least. And then, you know, just trying to catch up from being gone yesterday.
I'm like, geez, need to get it together. So anyway. Uh still haven't figured out how to fix our phones. I'm working on it. I should go ask Classy if their phones are working.
Couldn't think about that. But I've just been sitting here going like all right. alright.
Well, uh, while I continue catching up, I guess we we could just play some more music. Sorry, I wasn't prepared for this one. Cut me some slack today, okay? Just you know, give me a little bit of a break. How you doing? I'm alright. I'm alright, just uh not feeling great. Pain sucks. As I'm sure some of you know. It's not great.
Especially when it makes you just want to spew. Oh well. Just keep eating Tums. Survive somehow. Made it to seven. That's better than not making it to seven, right?
Heck yeah. Uh phones are still not operating properly. So if you've been trying to reach me, sorry, I don't know what's going on with them. But uh, you can email me, Victor at Kbear.fm.
Or you can shoot me a message on Facebook. Whatever works. Jade'll be here in like an hour, and I'm sure we'll get things fixed. Probably just need to unplug and plug something back in.
That's my best guess, but I don't know what that item is that would need unplugged and plugged back in. Alright. Aside from that, yeah, it's kind of a bummer that the phones aren't working because I got stuff to hook you up with, but we're just gonna have to wait. Okay, what are people asking online?
What's the thing that gets you out of bed every morning? They Have to pay bills? You think I'm gonna be up at this time if I if I didn't have bills?
Ah kind of annoying question is that. Certainly didn't want to be up and at them today. Jeez.
Oh well. What else are people chatting about? Found footage movies. There's an online community for found footage movies.
People asking, what upcoming titles should I have on my radar? That's not like horror in general. That's a very specific type of movie. How many found footage movies could be coming out at uh any given time? I don't know.
I guess there's an online community for everything, but wouldn't get your hopes up. You know? Hey, I hope they happen to put out one of these movies that they've put out like five of before. I'm sure there are more than that, but all right.
I'm gonna get into those tombs I was talking about. Stupid. It's funny, my phones are broken, but people who know my cell phone still know how to get a hold of me. So phones are basically blowing up anyway. Ugh.
It works, it works. Was trying to look through East Idaho news for something really quick to talk about since just been spending all my time on the phone, but it's a lot of unpleasantness floating around. I guess we do have a couple of new license plates coming our way.
Oh, how fun is that? Got one that says harvest the future. And uh looks like a farm.
Alright, it's pretty nice. The other one is just plain white with uh black letters. I think Lieutenant Crane was talking about that on traffic school powered by the advocates on Friday. Or is this another new one? Thought the article said adding two new license plates, but they're showing three. One is uh America 250 with uh you know, red, white, and blue flag and blah blah blah. So I don't know, there's two or three new ones, and depending on which one you want, they're gonna cost uh a little bit different, but hey, uh portion of proceeds from these custom plates do tend to go to uh good organizations and things like that. So if you want to get more information on that, just check out East Idaho News or go to the DMV.
Yeah, they could show you. Alright, I'll continue sending off issues reporting. Oh, too much catching up to do around here today. Hope you're not feeling vomitous. Well, you know I get annoyed by anything that interferes with air travel.
What why on earth would you need to bring a smoke bomb on an airplane? I'm just trying to think. Where are you heading?
What are you up to? Why do you need it? Well, this guy apparently needed two of them. Stores one of them in a bottle of peanut butter, and they have x-ray machines at the airport.
I don't know if this is breaking news, but yeah, when they send your bag through, they go, oh, what's that in the peanut butter? That appears to be an explosive. Yeah. And when it looks like a grenade, you're going to prevent people from being able to reach their destination in a timely fashion. So annoying. And I'm I mean, I'm looking at a picture of the thing here.
This is like a military style smoke grenade. Alright. Check your bags, people. I mean, clearly the guy was trying to bring this on purpose.
If you're hiding it in peanut butter, it's not like, oh, I forgot my handgun was in my backpack. I hope that they like really punish this guy. Let's make him uh face of national news, okay. Stop if anybody who's causing aggravation at the airport, make an example out of them. Cause geez, we just got to the point we don't have to take off our shoes anymore.
What are they gonna do next? Alright. I always get hassled with TSA. Ugh. Yeah, don't do that. Okay, leave your smoke bombs at home.
Alright. Fourth of July is coming up. Don't pack them in your suitcase, okay?
Let people reach their fourth of 4th of July destinations on time. Okay, let's start here with an article about the expensive accessory every hot girl wants. Duds, you want to make your lady happy?
This is what you need to get her. An old loud SUV. According to the internet. I don't know, they found one woman who drives a 1994 Jeep Wrangler that doesn't have air conditioning, roars as loud as a tractor, and guzzles gas. And it's the car of her dreams. Um sorry if you don't have AC in your vehicle, and you're like, I love it. I think you're a little bit crazy. Driving without AC sucks. Alright, it's 2026.
You gotta embrace the modern technology here. The wonders of the world we live in, and air conditioning is one of those things. Um, yeah, I'm looking at this girl's old beat-up Jeep. I don't know.
I don't know. I drive a gas guzzling truck, it's not really a great time for it. All right, sure. When I need to move something, it's nice to have. But other than that, with the gas prices like they are, no. And if it didn't have AC, bye bye.
I don't know. I I have a feeling that this isn't isn't the average hot girl accessory, an old beat up SUV with no AC. Yeah. Nope, that's a uh a special type of lady who wants that. Every hot girl wants it, get out of here. Oh, let's see. I think it was Peaches and I who recently talked about Olivia Rodrigo asking her fans to go ahead and stop wearing diapers in the general admission sections of her show because she can smell her uh stinky duken dookie dropping fans from the stage.
Uh artist Noah Khan. Also having to ask people to not do this. Yeah, you know, I get wanting to have your good spot at the show. You get up close to the railing, you're like, this is great. Well, if you forgot to go number two before you left and an emergency arises, do the rest of the crowd a favor and leave. Go out to the bathroom. All right, yes, venue bathrooms, they can be kind of gross, but they're not as gross as going to the bathroom in the middle of the crowd, okay.
This is becoming a major problem, apparently. If I'm gonna pay 500 bucks for these floor tickets, I ain't missing a second. I'll strap on a diaper. Gross. Don't do that. That is disgusting.
Did I have anything else opened up here? Okay, that's unpleasant. So much death. So much death in the news.
I thought I had something funny, but no, apparently lots of tabs about horrible things. Uh don't wear shorts on an airplane. Yeah. We've got uh American Airlines Delta and Southwest Flyers issued a stark warning over wearing shorts on planes.
I figured this was gonna be one of these uptight, you know. Oh, they're showing skin, but no, apparently, if you have to make an emergency landing and use the slide, they're like, you can rip your skin right off your body if you're wearing shorts. Um How often do you have to go down the slide?
I've flown lots of times. And I have never had to use the slide. If the slide is made of a material that will rip your skin off if you're wearing shorts, um why don't they change it?
Why don't they use a different type of fabric? Yeah. It's bad enough if you have to make an emergency landing. You know, you might be scared.
Next thing you know, the skin from your legs is stuck to the slide. Yeah. Not pleasant. So wear pants.
You know, the Dallas Airport sucks. It's really hot. Sorry, wear pants. Which is worse. Discomfort from heat or discomfort from skin ripped off legs. Yeah. I think I'm gonna take the dealing with the heat, even though that's you know, not enjoyable. Watch all this racket.
man. Um I heard a bunch of racket over the last couple nights. That would be people setting off fireworks.
Um I just laid there and tossed and turned. It's not because of the fireworks, just haven't been able to get to sleep. But a lot of people deal with issues with fireworks. I want to remind everybody, try to be courteous, you know, be mindful of veterans and things like that when it comes to fireworks.
Uh I was just reading somebody uh melting down in a Salt Lake City post about uh fireworks going off. Um, You know, if you've got pets and things like that. I don't know, Peaches. I think 4th of July weekend could be a good time to go camping. Well, like whoops, what's going on there?
Speaker 2: Unless you have that one friend who brings the fireworks with them to the camping trip.
Speaker 1: And don't set off fireworks in the woods, everybody. Uh, everything's really dry. I don't know if you've noticed, but there's fires all over the place already. Um let's try to behave ourselves this 4th of July.
Speaker 2: I was wondering the thought process of those people who just launch one firework at a time over the course of a week at like two in the morning. No, because it happens on my street.
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't I've been hearing it.
Speaker 2: And I'm just thinking, like, what are the how much money do they spend on their fireworks? And like do they just choose particular this one particular firework to light off? Like it's Christmas, and like you can't wait to open the present so your parents allow you to open one present leading up to Christmas.
Speaker 1: Could be just trying to spread them out because they're so expensive. Um, I haven't been out fireworks shopping yet. I I don't know if I'm gonna or
Speaker 2: what I was gonna say, you actually are gonna buy fireworks because you're literally burning money.
Speaker 1: It it literally is burning money.
Speaker 2: Just watch other people burn theirs.
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I mean we've got the Millalooca Freedom celebration.
Speaker 2: And nothing, nothing beats that. No, nobody can out uh out by that show.
Speaker 1: Yeah, so by the time you know you get home after that, I don't know, but they are pretty pricey, at least last I checked, so maybe maybe that's why people are setting off one per night. It's their whole batch, seven fireworks, cost them 700. Why not wait till July 4th? I don't know. I don't know, Peaches. I got no extra.
Speaker 2: it's 23rd. Might as well light one up. They want to make their neighbors mad. Maybe because they want to bring down the rent.
Speaker 1: They don't like uh veterans, they don't like dogs. Sure. So you know they're they're just jerks.
Speaker 2: You served our country, you want to shake a little? Here you go.
Speaker 1: So yeah, try to be mindful of your neighbors, your friends and family, and you know, if you are a veteran and you're dealing with uh difficult times, uh, don't forget that you know there are hot lines you can call. Um, and also make sure to keep your pets secured and things like that. Yeah. I swear I looked at the clock and it was 9 49. It's gonna be one of those days. What's up, everybody? Hope you've been good. I've been unwell, injured myself. I don't know how to walk, clumsy, dumb. Fell down, busted up my wrist, haven't been feeling good since.
Just feel like I'm gonna vomit all the time. It's great. It's fantastic.
As we prepare for the 4th of July weekend. It's alright. I'll survive somehow. You know, just kick back and watch depressing things on TV. There's a lot of depressing gross stuff floating around right now on Netflix.
Uh what was the name of that one? Holy cow. Hold on. It was in my head, and now I can't think of it. Ah anyway, I don't even want to describe the story because it was so bad. Well, anyway, it was about a woman who really wanted to have a baby.
That's all I'll say. So stupid that I can't remember it. Also been watching a lot of like worst roommate ever, worst whatever.
They got worse neighbor ever coming out. Those are real pleasant too. And then I watched this documentary about uh polygamous in southern Utah that was also very depressing and dark and gross. Um I need some comedy in my life, people. Is the new scary movie available on demand yet? I need something funny.
Cause I've been trapped in a world of darkness. Uh but those shows were pretty good. They were pretty good.
They were just gross. So if you're into true crime, well, fire up Netflix and just start scrolling through the recommendations. Yeah, you'll f you'll find some stuff. Just don't get mad at me if you want to vomit yourself afterward. Howdy, friends, what's up?
It's Victor Wilt. A little after nine o'clock, surviving. It's been a rough few days for me. Hopefully, not for you.
Injuries, man, they're brutal. I'm too old. Too old to be falling down. Luckily, things seem to be improving slightly. So we'll see. Oh, we got peaches in the house. What's up, peaches?
Speaker 2: When your uh cats have any kind of uh bowel issues, do you do you freak out and just drop everything?
Speaker 1: Uh I tend to try to clean up a mess fast. You know.
Speaker 2: Last night I was trying to play uh some grounded two with uh my good buddy. I'm gonna keep him anonymous, because uh he's not supposed to have a cap or according to like the the Beyoncé's set of parents or something like that for the giant waste of money, so they're trying to hide the fact they have two kittens.
Speaker 1: Oh, they're gonna get busted. But anyway.
Speaker 2: So I'm sitting there playing grounded two with one of them, and all of a sudden, I hear I hear his name get yelled out. And then he she uh the lady goes, uh Popeye has diarrhea.
Speaker 1: Apparently he went everywhere on the carpet. Oh, that's the worst. And we're in the middle of a boss fight. We're facing the cockroach queen on grounded two. And so he just stops playing all together. I'm getting I'm getting frustrated because I'm now solo fighting this boss. He's trying to clean up the running mess, he's probably hearing me on the head saying, Wow, would you just drop the controller? What are you doing?
Speaker 1: Animals, man. Animals can be the worst. Yeah.
Speaker 2: I I had to turn my computer off and just go take a walk around the green belt.
Speaker 1: I need to let out some steam. I was like, dude. Well, then I thought about it, and I apologized. I texted him afterwards. Hey man, I hope your kitten's okay. Yeah, they sometimes they get the poops.
Speaker 2: Sometimes they get sometimes we get the poops.
Speaker 1: Yeah, sometimes we get all messed up. Yeah. Yeah. Welcome to the world of unpleasantness. Oh, yeah. Victor Wilton Peaches.
Speaker 2: I had to use the restroom this morning, then you walked in right afterwards.
Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks, Peaches. You're welcome. Thanks, buddy. It was like a can.
Speaker 2: Oh, You know, a lot process.
Speaker 1: Okay, just let me uh just a glutton for punishment. You know? I'll just take it.
Speaker 2: Hey, you're the more on the trip, all right.
Speaker 1: I know I am an idiot.
Speaker 2: We thought you uh fell out of the hot tub. Oh, why would you position it like that? I don't know.
Speaker 1: No, I did not fall out of the hot tub. I just straight up tripped over a flower pot in my driveway. That's okay. Even dumber.
Speaker 2: Even dumber. I fell I fell out of the shower, so that happens.
Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh well, anyway. Uh that looked like it was painful. If well, I and then I hit my funny bone. Well, I just can't win. It's not funny.
Speaker 2: Would you rather get your funny bone or have diarrhea?
Speaker 1: I think I'll go funny bone. Alright. So, if you've been listening this morning, or you caught the bit of the show where I was here yesterday, you might have heard me talk about falling down like an idiot, messing up my wrist. I realized over the last few days that you should practice using the hand you don't normally use to just do various tasks. Just in case all of a sudden one day, the arm you generally use is out of commission. Cause going from using my right hand for everything to move, you know, use my left hand, it has been a total nightmare. Alright, it's a total pain.
Alright. There are lots of simple things you do. To you know, maybe get ready for the day. You ever tried brushing your teeth with your left hand?
You feel like an idiot. It doesn't seem to work. How about taking a shower one handed? Mm-hmm.
Yeah, not great. Other things. Using the facilities.
The worst. Now, it's not gonna be fun to practice using your left hand for these various activities, but practice makes perfect. So the more you practice, if there ever comes a time where again, you're just out of commission as far as normalcy in life goes. At least you might have a little bit of skill built up to to deal with these kind of things.
Alright. Practicing like opening a beverage. Ah, you wouldn't believe how much of a pain opening a water bottle can be. Mm-hmm. Or opening that toothpaste that I mentioned. Doing pretty much anything.
Ah. Decided to buy a uh truckload, a literal truckload of books last week. Saw a handful of books for sale on Facebook Marketplace that I wanted. But they were part of a lot sale where you had to buy the whole lot. I was like, well, it looks like a pretty good deal.
I'll take it. Started unloading books. Then I busted my wrist up. These are like all hardback books, okay? They're heavy. Peaches had a box in here when I got here today that had two vinyl records and a CD in it. I couldn't open it with one hand.
I couldn't I couldn't pick it up. So, uh, what was my point here? I lost track. Just thinking of all the stuff I can't do.
Oh yeah, picking up books. Guess whose house is a disaster. And nothing worse than feeling useless as a man. You know. Becca's like cooking and cleaning, and I'm just laying in bed like a baby. Uh I feel like I'm gonna throw up. My arm hurts.
I'll watch these depressing shows and hide in the darkness with the cats. Yeah, embarrassing. Oh well. What do you do? Endure, survive, make it through somehow, but practice using your left hand, everybody. Take it from me.
It's not fun. Alright, I was just reading that obsession is now available to stream at home, which is good news if you haven't seen the movie. I mean, if you can go see it in the theater, I think it's worth checking out in movie theaters.
Also, backrooms, I guess they're putting that back in theaters with like 15 minutes of additional footage. Now, one thing I was reading about obsession being released, is there's a bunch of debate going on right now as to whether or not there is an uncut version floating around out there. I guess Apple had it listed as unrated everywhere else, R-rated. It appears that it's just an error on Apple's part. But who knows?
Who knows? All I know is that uh if you haven't seen it, you should check it out. I mean, it was just released to digital, so it's gonna cost you I think like 20 bucks if you want to rent it on Amazon. But if you and some friends want to all get together, throw in, you know, that's not too bad. That's a couple movie tickets. Obsession is still playing, it looks like in Blackfoot, might be at uh Regal and Idaho Falls. And then oh, I gotta get out and see the new uh the new jackass movie.
Yeah. I need a good laugh after all the depressing crap I watched while I was just miserable in bed the last few days. Too much darkness. Brain can't really take that on sometimes. Alright.
Well, I'm gonna have to consider renting obsession at home. I want to see it again. Yeah. I wish there was an uncut version though. Ah.
Come on. Uncut's always better. Anyway, check it out if you're looking for something good to watch. It is good. It's a good good horror movie.
It's not like the craziest, most amazing horror movie ever, but it's pretty dang good. All Alright, made it through. That's better than yesterday. Now just got five hours to go. Just gotta make it through the rest of the uh work day.
Hope yours goes by quick. Um, Peaches and I will be back at noon, of course, for the uh noon hour of madness and ma'am. And hopefully we'll find some fun stuff to talk about. Kind of a light news day. It pretty much has been all the time lately, unless you want to talk about all the political crap crap everybody else is talking about. Uh, that'll stop after the midterms, right?
In the fall? Hmm. Doubt it. It's a world we live in now. I want to encourage you to get back to uh just posting pictures of your uh your cats and dogs. Let's just do that. Post pictures of your food. Alright.
Let's just get back to old internet. Anyway, um, I'm gonna go uh munch some some more Tums. See if I can get through some of the uh tedious tasks I gotta do while I feel like I'm gonna vomit. Alright. Appreciate your company. You're the best. Let's crush Tuesday.
Let's get her done. Back in a little bit. Thank you again for tuning in to the Victor Wilch Show. This program's a production of River Bend Media Group. To contact the show or for more information, hit us up at Riverbend Media Group.com.
