#0399 - I Accidentally Started A Political War At 8:30 PM - 07/29/2026
Speaker 1: Morning all and welcome to the program. It's the Victor Wilt Show. Hello and welcome to Wednesday. Yay. Gotta love a Wednesday morning waking up with some back pain. Yeah. And as usual, tired. Yeah, I'm sure you're sick of hearing that from me, but it's just kind of how it is. I'm I'm a genius, you know?
A total genius. Yesterday afternoon, I get home. Becca's taking a nap. Like, alright, well, she'll be up soon. Okay, so I'm gonna dink around for a bit, play some red dead. I don't remember what I did to kill you know a couple hours. And finally, I was like, well, I'm gonna just try to wake her up. Doesn't want to wake up.
Like, alright, I'll lay down here for a few dink around on the phone. She'll wake up in a minute. Next thing I know, I'm getting woke up at I don't know, 8 30. You know, my proper bedtime, I'd say.
If I was smart, I'd get into bed like 8 30 and be actually asleep at 9 every night, but it's you know, it's impossible. But so I I get woke up, and I think Becca called her brother. I don't even even remember why, but she pretty much immediately called her brother. And then they get in this like political discussion, and it's going on and on, and finally, I'm like cranky from trying to wake up, and so I dive into the conversation and it turns into this big argument. Uh, right when you woke up is no time to discuss uh politics and religion.
Uh, and maybe for me I should just never discuss it. But so then, you know, you're all wound up, and it's like, all right, we gotta get some food and get back to bed. So we get some food and well, we got back to bed, but did I get to sleep when I should no. So here I am, tired and cranky as usual. Oh well, get through today, and uh what one of these days, one of these days I'll get myself on a uh proper sleep schedule so that I just don't feel this way. And I I think everybody's feeling a little bit tired in general as well lately.
I've seen a few YouTube videos about that. Everyone's exhausted. I don't know if it's the smoke in the air and the heat and the stupid world or what, but I tell you, I need a cot up in this place. I'll just Do my show from a cot, yap for a few, nap, yep, nap, yep nap.
Well, I I can dream. So if you weren't listening to the show yesterday, we announced another show and ticket giveaway, which is I think gonna be a pretty fun one. We've got God Smack and Dorothy gonna be coming to the Mountain America Center October 10th. Uh tickets go on sale Friday, but you can win them all week from us before they even go on sale.
Peaches or I will just be like, hey, call us now, be this caller number, and then if you're lucky you win. Uh aside from that, we are still giving away tickets to Seven Dust and Theory of a Dead Man. Also coming to the Mountain America Center.
Now that one's going down on the 23rd of September. And uh that one we're doing the back to back tracks game. So if you hear us play two songs in a row from Theory of a Dead Man or two tracks in a row from Seven Dust, be color number 20 when the second song starts, and we will hook you up with tickets to go check out that show. So multiple tickets up for grabs this week.
I hope you win them. And uh other than that, time to dig into the news. Now, somebody asked the question online, How much money can you make panhandling? I would imagine in this day and age, not very much money. I mean, one, who carries cash? Not very many people, or not at least as many as used to.
But two. Who got spare money? I can't imagine that anybody in this thread's like, yeah, I'm making bank. Now, I could certainly use a part-time job. I mean, I don't want one. I work tons as it is, but never enough dough. Pay down those bills. I don't know, it's kind of hot and smoky out for pan handling. And again.
I just I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze. No, that's why you gotta go to higher east idaho.com. Find yourself a job there. Oh. You know, I talked about the job of the week earlier. Formulation bulk processor at Millaluca.
Yeah, there you go. Full-time position. Melaluca. Great benefits and all that good stuff. Yeah. And I hope everybody's doing alright out there.
Sorry, I'm stressed out today. I don't know what my deal is. I just want to like crawl in a hole and hide.
Just want to hide in my room today. So reading about money related stuff. Maybe I shouldn't have pulled up that kind of thread early on a Wednesday. Ugh. So, yeah.
Yeah, I recommend higher east Idaho.com. Um, I hope I can find some freak news. Let's see how this goes.
Alright, let's head to I guess we'll go to New England to start. Or this store made some influencers very angry. They put up a sign at the Four Windscraft Guild that says no influencers allowed. Oh how dare they what kind of store is this? Like a clothing store.
I don't know, it doesn't really say. But also, you would think that if you're a business, um it'd be good for you to have influencers in there taking pictures and posting to social media, right? It's free advertising for your business. Um, I'm looking at a picture from inside the shop. This looks like hipster central. What are those? Picnic baskets? What is that?
What are these items? I mean, they need the help of the influencers. You gotta find a special audience if you're looking for somebody who wants to get in and buy that kind of crap. Alright, maybe maybe I'm just seeing a bad wall here, but I don't know. I don't know. First time I've seen it.
No influencers sign. And uh it's sparked an online debate over where online creators are welcome. Uh I mean that that's the US. I mean, that's private property.
If they were outside, they couldn't really do anything, but you can film in public. Alright, well, let's see. What else do we have here? Uh, this guy, I I swear we've talked about him before. He's a guy who's won um the Powerball for a he won 167 million bucks.
Well, he was just busted for the fourth time since his jackpot, and I think we talked about him when he was arrested the third time. I don't know, you just think if you got 167 million, couldn't you just keep yourself uh under control a little bit, not be attacking people? I I would just like disappear. If I want 167 million, you'd probably not hear from me again. I'd move to a you know, somewhere else. Start going by the real name?
You will never find me, no. Well, anyway, I guess I'm sure this guy can afford the bail. Maybe that's why it's his fourth time being arrested. Maybe they should stick him with a little bit higher bail this time, or maybe not allow it. Jeez.
Alright. Somerset County handler recounts Timber Rattlesnake Bite. I don't even need to click on this video. Oh, it sucked it hurt! Oh I mean, what was it like getting bitten by a rattlesnake? Oh, it was uh fantastic. What do you think he's gonna say?
It sucked. I guess he said it was a snake being a snake, no kidding. Alright, well, light news day, wherever this came from, Somerset County.
Hmm. It's a light news day pretty much everywhere, based on my digging so far. Oh, a bride to be was accused of setting fire to a Utah church building while preparing for her wedding. It's not a very good way to get yourself through your wedding, right? And there's easier ways to get out of it, too.
Let's see. So they were getting everything set up. And they were about to leave. The fire alarm went off. Um, a bystander used water from wedding decorations, and then somebody else got a fire extinguisher. Um, and the fire appeared to have been started under a chair using items that were out of the ordinary, including what appeared to be a tampon. Are they pretty flammable?
Haven't ever tried to lighten one up. But uh let's see. Okay, they found footage. This story's longer than I thought it would be.
Okay. So apparently, earlier in the day, the groom and the bride had gone to Ace Hardware to buy some hooks. They reviewed footage and they saw the the bride steal two to three lighters from Ace Hardware.
I guess the groom was not nearby. She grabs the lighters, sticks them in her pocket. Um, she admitted to stealing, and then okay, she hasn't admitted to starting the fire in the church, but they believe the probable cause is that she did not obtain a marriage license for her own wedding, and had lied, stating she had. You're I don't think you're gonna get in trouble if you didn't have a marriage license and you still hold a wedding at a church.
You don't need to try to get out of it by lighting the place on fire. She caused about 108,000 in damages. Uh, no word on whether or not the wedding is gonna continue.
I'm guessing that could be a little bit of a red flag for the groom. Alright, eight o'clock. Only a ton more hours to go.
We got this. Nothing like wasting time, right? Well, we may have wasted a lot of time throughout our lives. Learning skills that are now useless because the world has moved on. Looking at people's responses to a question about this. You know, what are some skills you got that well, they're useless now. Memorizing phone numbers. Now, I don't think that's useless.
Alright. We generally do just have the phone numbers in our pockets, but okay. Let's say your phone dies, and you don't have a charger, and you really need to get a hold of somebody. You should at least memorize the phone numbers of the like family members and friends closest to you.
So if you need to get a hold of somebody in an emergency and you don't have your cell phone, you can do so. So I wouldn't call that one a useless skill. But it is memorizing a skill. I guess for me it is, since I can't remember crap. Let's see. T9 texting.
Okay, um, you younger folks aren't gonna know what that is. This is in the first days of texting, and it was really annoying. Okay, you would text using the number keypad on your phone. And like, for example, the number two's got ABC. So if you wanted to type a letter B, you'd have to hit two times, and then the next letter, you know. Alright, maybe you gotta hit button three three times, and so on. It would take forever to text. And I think what did they charge you per text message, or was it per word?
I don't know, but it sucked. Um, and T9 texting, I guess it was a skill. Thankfully, it's useless now, because yeah, again, time consuming and annoying. Uh, let's see, this person says they used to be good at Google, but now it's all ads, AI responses, and Reddit posts that show up.
This is true. Um last night I was attempting to look up stats on Google. And now they just give you the AI overview, and we've talked about it plenty. You cannot rely on Google AI overview for information. Okay.
AI overview in search engines is gonna make us all just so much dumber. Oh. Let's see. This person used to buy gas powered scooters, fix them and sell them, but now e bikes have gotten so cheap, so nobody wants a gas powered scooter anymore. Um you could still whip them up, dude. You know, you could still fix them up.
Try to sell there gotta be some people out there that want a gas-powered scooter. I don't know. What else do we got here? Installing troubleshooting and repairing plain old telephone system copper infrastructure. I would imagine there's a lot of businesses.
Still need a little bit of that work. Landlines haven't disappeared. We got one in this room. You know, when you try to call me, or you think you're you're calling? Cell phone? No.
Alright, let's see. Used to be able to get work as a copywriter or copy editor. Jobs are just straight up AI now. Yeah, well, yeah. But you still gotta take a look at the finished product.
Alright, I've used plenty of chat GPT. Sometimes it loses its mind. You'll be like, transcribe this file, or you know, analyze this document, and then you're like, what do what were you even looking at?
This has nothing nothing to do with anything that I punched into your system. Ugh. Well, everybody, we've made it to 820.
Just surviving. Yesterday because I thought people could just use something uh cute to make them smile. I posted a video of a baby goat and a cat that were bonking their heads together. The goat was trying to practice, you know, head button, and the cat just thought the goat was being really, really nice. So we can talk about cutesy animal stuff, huh? How about that? Reading a thread here. Zookeepers, what animal is way more fun to take care of than people might expect.
And right out of the gate. It sounds kind of cute. They're talking about porcupines. And you're probably thinking, porcupine, like me.
They got needles, so on. You know, the person who posted's like, people, you know, they generally think they're prickly, defensive, and slow, but they are basically toddler-sized animals in fur coats. When they get excited about food, they do a little foot stamping dance and make high-pitched squeaking sounds that sound like cartoon characters. I've never seen this happen.
Might have to pull up a video of that on YouTube. Give myself a little smile. Sorry, I'm grouchy today. Um, let's see. What more what other cutesy animal stuff might uh cure the crankiness.
Uh, let's see. This person's dad used to clean and maintain aquatic animal enclosures and monitor water quality. And everyone at his job hated cleaning the penguin enclosures because he says they're stinky and harass you the whole time.
God, except not this guy's dad. He loved them. He loved hanging out with the penguins, just partying. He also said he liked hanging out with the sharks.
He would swim around with them. Ugh. Creepy man.
No way that I could do the uh guy in a scuba suit cleaning a shark tank. Uh this person says capiberas or capabaras. I don't I don't know how you say that.
I'm dumb. Uh seem to be low energy, but every keeper I've heard from says they're basically giant, water-loving toddlers with endless personality. Cheetahs. You know, cheetahs seem like.
I mean, I talked with Beck about this. You see a mountain lion, it's like, come here, kitty. You just need some scratches. Cheetahs, I guess, um are fairly friendly, according to this guy. I I would I would assume, you know, he probably want to avoid wild cheetahs, but in the zoo.
Probably not too bad. Uh, here's another volunteer diver. Says, uh, freshwater catfish. Very friendly and surprisingly curious. Are those the ones that people catch by shoving their arm into the water and the fish like bites down on their whole arm and they just pull it out?
Frightening. Yeah, if they're I guess that's a good answer. If they're fun, I'm surprised by that. Alright. Oh, here's another person who likes penguins. Okay. I guess most animals, not fun to take care of. Well, hello all.
It's the Victor World Show just after nine. And I guess we're sticking with stupid relationship crap. Yeah. Rough news day today. Somebody posted, what's an unsexy, raw reality of a long-term marriage or relationship that nobody warns you about? Alright, boomers, what you got for us, huh? You old timers, give us that advice.
Alright, let's see here. You gotta be able to be good coworkers. Not being able to carry responsibility together will break you.
Um sounds like pretty good advice to me. Being in a relationship is hard work. There's always a lot of crap that needs to be done. And uh, if one person's carrying all the weight, yeah, that's gonna that's gonna cause a problem. Work together. You'd think it'd be common sense, but alright, what else we got? What should we eat this week while sitting over a blank shopping list? Repeat every week forever. Okay.
Um again. I don't know if you need to be warned about that. Warning, you're gonna have to meal prep and plan.
Need to probably do more of that myself. Just sucks when we, you know, things are getting to the point where groceries are so expensive that it's like, might as well just go get McDonald's. You know, it's cheaper.
Cheaper to get, you know, the value menu than make a meal. Alright, what else we got here? Sometimes you won't like each other. It doesn't mean it's over, you just need to find new ways to reconnect. Also, you're probably just really tired.
Alright. Yeah, I think anyone who's been in any relationship knows that at times you're gonna get on each other's nerves, you're gonna do something to upset the other person. Um, and yeah, if you're really tired all the time, it's not good.
I Now, I think I behave pretty well and I'm pretty nice in general, but I will say that uh as lack of sleep builds up for me sometimes, I get real cranky, and all I want to do is just hide in my room and sleep. That's where I'm at today. And it's only Wednesday, which is not good. That's two more days of having to wake up early.
Oh, and I guess I'll probably technically have to wake up early on Saturday because hotels boot you out at a certain time. Alright, what else do we got? Relationship advice.
Let's see. This person says we're in our late 70s now and spend a lot of time at doctor's appointments. It only gets worse in your 80s and beyond.
You'll need each other in your worst and most vulnerable moments. Yeah. You're not uh willing to put up with helping your significant other out with doctor's appointments and things like that. Yeah, when you get old. That's that's all you do. No, I'm sure there's plenty more you do, but something to think about. Okay, you're probably gonna have to clean up the other person's mess at some point, some kind of mess. Yeah, we'll we'll just use vomit as an example, but there could be other things. Life gets rough as you get older.
Let's see. Some things you thought hoped they'd grow out of, do not change, and little things can end up driving you nuts after after years. Okay, I guess when you're getting started off, you gotta be uh you gotta be pretty open with each other about that kind of thing, huh? Mm-hmm.
Like they mention things like living styles and preferences, like cleanliness and neatness. Uh what else we got here? If you're okay, now now they're just starting to get dark. I knew it would. I knew it would. Alright. Oh, having a show today.
It's the Victor Wilch Show. Um, this topic could be a little bit unpleasant at times, but I'm gonna do my best with it. And I need some people to call me on this one, cuz I don't know if I'm just out of the loop.
I'm just tired. I've briefly touched on this subject, but I'm just a little bit confused about why everybody is like so worked up about these flock cameras. Okay, now I don't want cameras everywhere. All right, it's annoying. I don't like feeling like we're under surveillance all the time.
But we already are, okay. Like these cell phones, you know, I'm holding mine in my hand. It's a tracking device that tracks you everywhere you go. So if people are that worked up about surveillance, why isn't everyone ditching their cell phones? Like, what what I'm just trying to figure out what I'm missing here with why everybody is like going nuts about these cameras.
I get it. Cameras going up. More surveillance is annoying.
But you know, I'll read the comments online. People are like, I don't need to be tracked when I'm pulling into the grocery store. I don't need to be tracked when I'm pulling into Home Depot. You're being tracked if you have your phone.
If it is with you, you are being tracked. Okay, think back to the uh the Daybell case. You remember that horrible thing that happened with the Daybells?
Okay. If you watched any of the documentaries on that or read any of the news articles about the court proceedings and the evidence that they use to convict uh the daybells. Do you know how they figured out where to dig for those children? Cell phone data location.
If I recall correctly, cell phone data location. So whoops, pushing the wrong button here. All right, we got a caller. K bear, you're live on the show. Keep that in mind. Who's this? Yeah, But it's Ravanda.
Speaker 2: But anyways. Um those cameras, people have been going into back back people's yards and stuff and installing them without their permission. So yeah, that's kind of scary.
Speaker 1: Well, that yeah, that would be pretty ridiculous if they're coming in onto your property and installing them. Sure.
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. They're going into the backyard and selling installing them in the property, like in the backyard. So yeah, that's I wonder why people are pretty upset about it.
Speaker 1: All right. I'm gonna do some research on that one because I hadn't heard anything about uh them doing this on people's private property without their consent. So yep.
Speaker 2: Well, it's happened. So yeah, just look at that. Okay.
Speaker 1: And Ravanda hangs up just like Peaches. Not even a goodbye. All right. Let's see, myth versus facts, blah, blah, blah. It says that installing um flock automated license plate reader cameras on private property requires compliance with state privacy laws regarding data use, ensuring cameras only captured public areas or private entryways with explicit consent and navigating local community or municipal municipal rules. So I wouldn't think they'd be able to just put them in your yard, but they could put them in your neighborhood.
Um from what I understand about the law here. Now, again, I agree that cameras going up all over the place is annoying, and I don't want to be watched everywhere I go, but we are constantly underwatch with our phones. That's that's sorry, caller. I took too long to get to you.
My bad, you can call me back. So it's kind of like just filming in public, right? We've talked with Lieutenant Crane about that on traffic school powered by the advocates.
Uh, maybe we can bring some of this up on Friday. But like out in public, if you're just walking around, you can you can film people, you know, you can walk down somebody's street and film their house. It's you know, kind of creepy and weird, and I think it's rude, but you can do it. So, as far as putting these up in a neighborhood, I don't know. I would think if one person you know says, yeah, pulling in my yard, uh the neighborhood's kind of screwed. K bear, you were live on the show. Please keep that in mind. Who's this?
Speaker 3: Hey, what's up, boss? It's Stuart Living Love the show.
Speaker 1: Hey, thanks, Stuart. What's on your mind?
Speaker 3: Well, the thing about these cameras is anybody can access them and try anybody with cell phones you have to go to court and get a warrant and go through the channel to do it legally this way. People are just knocking people like crazy. That's the main problem.
Speaker 1: Now, are they saying like the government would be or or the just any old person could hack in?
Speaker 3: Pretty much anybody can get into my understanding, but police officers are like stalking their exes and there's been multiple cases of uh people stalking people through these cameras. Okay.
Speaker 1: So that that's an angle I hadn't heard of. Um, if that's true, that would definitely be concerning. Uh, I know I wouldn't want somebody to be able to just tap into my cameras at at home, you know. So that that could make some sense there.
Speaker 3: So yeah, that's my understanding of why people are really upset about him. You know.
Speaker 1: All right. All right. Well, uh, Stuart, I appreciate the call. That's what I was looking for, was a little bit more information as to you know why people are so freaked out about these. Again, it's annoying. You know, we I don't like that the government tracks us everywhere we go. Um, but yeah, I think you know, license plate scanners have been around for a long time.
So I don't know. But anyway, uh appreciate the call, Stuart. Have a good one, man. Yeah, you too fight. See ya. Yeah, I'm reading through an article here from K TVB Boise.
Um, and let's see. They say when a community or agency starts using Flock, there is no sharing enabled, every community owns their data, and they get to decide what other communities they share it with, if at all. Um, and agencies can choose to share it with neighboring departments, statewide, nationwide, or not at all. So, are they working direct with law enforcement?
Uh they say their system has not been hacked. I sounds like we got a lot of uh debating going on here and a lot of uh unclear information. K Bear, you're live on the show, keep that in mind. Who's this?
Speaker 4: Hi, Victor. This is Christian. Christian, what's up, dude? You know, I just wanted to address your point about um, you know, tracking through cell phones, and you know, it's a good point, but if you know there's someone tracking you, you always have the option to leave your phone at home if you need to in some sort of situation. Okay, you know, fair if you've got a fight on your car, you can't legally just leave your license plate at home.
Speaker 1: That is a very fair observation. You are correct. So thank you. Yep. I totally agree, man. Hadn't hadn't thought of that angle. Have a good one, Christian. Yeah, you too.
Thank you. Peace, man. All right, peace. Bye. Yeah.
Yeah. If Your license plates just getting scanned everywhere you go. I mean, there are so many cameras everywhere that you know, we've talked about how people can't really get away with much of anything anymore because everybody has cameras on their houses and things like that.
Well, not everybody, but lots of people. But yeah, I guess when you got the government just piling up data, I don't know. I don't know about that. But people could be using their home cameras to spy on their neighbors too. People are creeps. Let's go to the phones again. K-Barry, you were live on the show. Keep that in mind. Who's this? This is Ramon Dagan. Hi, Ravonda. What's up?
Speaker 2: Um, I think Christian might be a serial killer.
Speaker 1: Christian knows if you're gonna commit a crime, leave your phone at home.
Speaker 2: That's the smart idea how to do it. So that's all I have to say. That's uh that's how you get away with it, bro. I know they'll trade you. We is right, they all trade show.
Speaker 1: Yeah, we were watching uh like world's worst X or something the other day, and you know, they showed the path the guy took to go dump a body somewhere, his exact route that they tracked with his cell phone.
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, at least Christian is like a smart serial killer.
Speaker 1: And we're not trying to give out crime tips, everybody. All right. This is not crime tips one-on-one. Oh, well, but Ravon is revolved. Ravonda always trying to give out crime tips.
Speaker 2: I am all the time. That's why you don't drink and drive. Just kidding. That's why you drink drive.
Speaker 1: Anyways, now the flock cameras are gonna catch you, Ravonda, so you be careful.
Speaker 2: Wait, they're going to. They're gonna catch me. They're gonna catch me. catch everybody. I'm gonna talk to Lieutenant Crane about that too, and be like, are they gonna get me?
Speaker 1: Well, make sure to call in on Friday. Oral coming. Okay. Sounds good. Okay.
Speaker 2: Yeah, but Christian, Christian, give away some good tips.
Speaker 1: So watch out, guys. Watch out for Christian, everybody. All right. Okay, my don't commit crimes, everybody. Okay, don't be a criminal. All right, be a good human being. Hey, Peaches, what's up, dude?
Speaker 4: Do you think Maynard's a great friend? Or do you think he's a piece of trash?
Speaker 1: You know, I watched that interview, or not the whole thing, but a little bit of his interview with Steve O. And he was a lot more laid back than you generally see him. I would imagine if you're friends with him, he's pretty cool. But if you're an annoying fan, he's probably probably kind of awful.
Speaker 4: I was about to say, is he one of those dudes where you have to like earn his respect to be his friend? Probably like he's a mafia boss.
Speaker 1: Well, and you know, that's how it should be. Really? Yeah. People let, you know, turds into their life way too easy. You gotta have a better screen impression.
Speaker 4: I feel like you're speaking to me.
Speaker 1: No, I'm not speaking to you, Peaches. Just in general. I've let turds into my life before. Well, and it's it's you know, sometimes difficult, especially like if you're friends with somebody and then they turn into a turd. And then you gotta cast out a friend.
Speaker 4: Or they get married to somebody and then that person like completely ruins them. Yeah, if uh Happy Wife, happy life!
Speaker 1: I I don't know. That's why I think again, people should uh live together for a long time before you take that legal plunge. And a lot easier to break up if you don't got those legal documents from the government.
Speaker 4: I was just about to bring up weddings to you on the noon hour of madness and mayhem. Oh, okay. Not me and you getting married, but Okay.
Speaker 1: Yes, the answer is no, Peaches. Dang it! Sorry. I wanted to split that house. You didn't get me a nice enough ring.
Speaker 4: I got you a ring pop, it's blueberry.
Speaker 1: It's tasty, but So yeah, Peaches and I will be back for the noon hour of madness and mayhem, and I guess we're talking weddings and who knows what else. For now, I'm gonna chug some coffee.
Speaker 4: Well, don't don't like pitch it as like we're talking weddings on the wedding talks. a We're not like a traditional radio show here.
Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about the uh current trends that are happening in a 2026 summer wedding.
Speaker 4: Do you still have your dress? Let us know. Send us a picture. Particularly of you in it. I wanna see it.
Speaker 1: Thank you again for tuning in to the Victor Wilch Show. This program's a production of River Bend Media Group. To contact the show or for more information, hit us up at Riverbend Media Group.com.
