#0446 - I Have Been Publicly Scolded By People Who Voluntarily Listen To Me - 11/05/2026
What's
Speaker 1: up, fools? How's it going? It's Victor Wills here, doing it live. Crack of dawn, as always. Up and at him, and so stoked to be awake. Loving it. Anyway, how's your morning going? I hope great.
Hope you have a great day today, too. It's Thursday, unfortunately. Wish it was Friday. I don't know what I'm gonna do this weekend, but um going I'm gonna do nothing.
There we go. I know I say that every weekend, but this weekend I'm really not gonna do anything. I don't give a crap. You know, I'll just hide up my house. Play some freaking red dead or something. Alright, you ever have those mornings when you're either gonna just start screaming at the sky or just throw your hands up and go, just screw it. I'm gonna get my truck and drive to the desert.
I'm gonna just move to Slab City, California and live like a bum. Uh anyway, uh maybe I need more caffeine. Forgot to stop at the gas station and get myself something that doesn't suck to drink, so gotta hit up the uh the old company water cooler. And uh that's pretty much where I'm at this morning. Just looking at some of my Facebook uh you know, notifications, getting a bunch of responses on, you know, just uh simple comments I made.
Getting responses from people who can't read. That's you know, great. Ugh. Anyway, we're gonna have some fun on this show today. Because sometimes when you feel like screaming at the sky, you just gotta shut your brain off and find some stupid things to talk about. What's this crap I got in the mail? Okay, it must be a local band or something.
Uh note to local bands. Oh, they did include something. Never mind. I was about to say, you know, include some information on why you're sending me messages, why you're sending me crap in the mail. Um, Okay, let's read this. Hello, I'm a radio enthusiast from Finland.
Even has a picture of himself. Uh my hobby is trying to catch long distance AM signals from all over the world. I travel annually from my home to a small cabin 200 miles above the Arctic Circle.
Jeez. That sounds like a miserable place to go. I have a cabin at the end of the world. Uh if you've ever watched that, uh I don't I don't remember what they call the movie.
The book was called Cabin at the end of the world. I think they called it. I don't know.
I'll figure it out. It doesn't matter. But the place this guy's cabin sounds like it's from it sounds horrible. Anyway, he goes there for a week just to listen to radio all day long. Boy, I thought I was a radio nerd. It's a very remote place, nearest neighbor's over 40 miles away.
Okay, so this guy he must have lost his mind at some point too and decided, hey, screw it. I'm gonna buy a cabin at the North Pole, and I'm just gonna go stay there 40 miles away from all people. But he uh says there I was able to use over 3,000 feet long antenna. And today I heard KNBL Farm Country, 1260 a.m. with music and farming news, e.g.
Cattle Markets. Is this really KNBL from Idaho Falls? Can you please verify that this is correct? It was a small miracle. My audio is attached and in a uh he gave me a link. There's a CD in here, a burnt CD. I think if you're living in a cabin at the Arctic Circle, you probably do still have a computer that uh burns CDs.
I haven't seen a burnt CD in years. Alright, uh, then he goes into I guess his uh life history here. I'm a doctor of forestry, retired forest researcher. I have some old-fashioned hobbies.
I love nature, forest hiking, berry picking, old-fashioned hobbies. I visited the USA several times, for us in many states, and I and many others watch NHL hockey. There are many Finnish players in NBA.
Yours sincerely, Dr. Jerky Hutinin from Finland. And uh he's showing where I mean he's on the other side of the planet picking up uh farm country.
That's pretty cool. I'll have to uh write him back. Alright, well.
For once get something interesting in the mail. Not some, you know. I figured it was just gonna be some terrible country artist. That's what I tend to receive. Anyhow, we're here. I got about 10 billion things to do. I got my kids hitting me up for money first thing in the morning. It's alright, it's payday.
I'm used to uh all my money disappearing on payday, so well. We uh take a break, I'll pay my mortgage, send my daughter the rest of my money, and uh then I'll find something fun to talk with you about. I'll continue going through my uh Facebook comments here and read all the stupid things or people are saying to me. And uh, yeah. Figure out something good to talk about on the next break. Like I said, we're gonna have fun today. We got people listen.
Well, they weren't listening to K-Bear from Finland, but uh we got people listening from all over uh the planet, and uh I'm sure they don't want to just hear me vent all day. So anyway, if you need to just you might scare your neighbors at this hour, but just go outside and just let out a brutal scream. Just and it helps. It helps, trust me. I've been doing it since I was a teenager.
It's how I got in a metal band. Yeah. Sometimes you fail at your multitasking.
It's okay, it's not like I was accomplishing anything anyway. What's up, folks? How's it going?
It's the Victor Wilt Show. Here doing it like groundhogs day. Ugh. You ever have those days you show up at work and you're like, wasn't I just here? Is this just where I live? Every day, the same crap.
Ugh. Yeah, yesterday I sat around watching Josh paint his office. Like, how do you have the time to do this? You know? you Are you just much better at me than working ahead? I guess I did have to take a few days off to go to Phoenix.
Should have probably taken like one less and just come back to work to get a little ahead of the game. Got too many giveaways coming up to get ready. Hopefully, the uh tools I need to get the one to launch for next week, show up ASAP. I mean, it's pretty much ready to go. It's gonna be a really cool one. I'm sure everybody's gonna be excited about it. Unless you're like a maniac or something.
I don't know. But I'm sure it'll all work out in the end. If I have to, I'll come in and just work on the weekend. Alright.
Let's see. What's floating around on the internet today? What sport do you think will be dead in 50 years? Alright, I'm not much of a sports expert. You want to check out sports? Check out 105 the GOAT at 105.5 FM.
They'll give you proper sport insight. A sport that I think will be dead in 50 years. Do you think football will be uh dead in 50 years? I mean, due to the sheer amount of uh injuries, head injuries, that CTE stuff. You know, and unless they start making everyone wear the wacky helmets that actually work to protect against uh head injuries.
I could see football going going away in 50 years, but let's see what the internet says. Power slap. Yeah, that one's gonna go away once somebody dies. I'm surprised nobody's died from it yet. You ever watched any of that power slap stuff? Yeah. Uh kind of horrific. I don't know why anybody would want to watch it.
It's unpleasant to view, but uh we'll we'll see. Greyhound racing. Is that still going on? People racing dogs. Sorry, yeah, people racing dogs and racing horses and all that.
I'm gonna go full hippie here. I don't like the circus. I think the circus is gross. I think racing horses is gross. I think uh racing dogs is like totally disgusting.
So, yeah, I hopefully it goes well. I can't believe it's still around now. Who's going out and watching dogs race? Gamblers. That's who. Yeah.
Just go to this casino and waste your money. Yeah. Let's get these dogs out of whatever kind of a horrific training regimen they have to go to. Probably okay. Anyway, I'm not gonna get into it. Bull fighting, another disgusting sport. We've talked about that on the show before.
I I think we read that thousands of bulls are killed every year in bull fighting. Yeah, it you know, traditions can go. Alright. A lot of people stick with things because well, that's the way we've always done it. That's tradition. Uh you don't have to keep following traditions, okay?
It's alright to uh progress as a society and move forward and try something different, but a lot of people are uh stuck in the sand. Boxing is a bad sport due to all the politics involved. Um I don't know if boxing will go away in 50 years. I mean, it's probably just as bad as uh football with the head injury thing.
I don't know. I guess if people want to play, these things are gonna continue. I would just hope that any animal-related sports go away. NASCAR? I don't think NASCAR will probably just advance as um, you know, we start making crazier and crazier vehicles. Screw it, do NASCAR in the sky. We're probably not gonna last 50 years as a species anyway.
Somebody's gonna drop a nuke or a meteor's gonna hit. Alright, what else do we got here? Bowling? I I think bowling will be around.
It'll be one of those uh retro things to do, like how kids like to sit around the record player and listen to vinyl, play hacky sack. Oh, I just read a post on the internet that annoyed me. As you know, I talk about it often because I want to let people know you're not alone.
You know, we're all human beings. Talk about my struggles with booze, alright? It's been a struggle since I was very young, which is why I encourage people to never even try it, because it's horrible. It's horrible stuff. It's crazy to me that one of the most dangerous drugs on the planet is available at like every store.
Like, you can literally just die from it, like just from trying to stop if you don't follow a doctor's orders, but they sell it everywhere. You you know this post on here is from somebody who says, I'm very new to sobriety. How do I prepare for my friend's upcoming dinner slash wine party? Can you recommend some tools slash coping strategies?
Last time I relapsed was due to my social anxiety in a similar social gathering. Okay. Um, I'm I'm doing good right now myself. I'm doing good at uh staying on the wagon, and it's hard.
Alright, there's a lot of stressors in life, tons of stressors in life, and it always seems like, oh, I'll just take the edge off, and then it just makes everything worse. You know. Here's my advice to this person. Don't go to the stupid party. They said after relapsing last week at a Halloween party, today I am six days sober. I'm invited to my friend's dinner party, dine and wine, and I accepted because I just don't want to miss out. Dude, if you're six days sober, don't go to a place with booze. That's about the dumbest thing you can do.
Alright. You're not gonna lose all your friends if you don't show up to one party. So, like, I can't avoid social gatherings with alcohol forever, is pretty much everyone around me are drinkers. Wait a while, okay? Give it uh uh a a month, a few months, test the waters, you know, before you go to a friend's party. I don't know, go step foot, go stand in front of the booze at the gas station for five minutes and see how you do. If it's making you want to crawl out of your skin, you're not ready to go to somebody's party, okay?
Like you you have to like change up your habits, you gotta do something different. God, buy Red Dead Redemption 2. It's a very relaxing game. I don't know.
Stare at the TV. If your friends are throwing a booze party, your your friends shouldn't be inviting you to a booze party if they know you're trying to get sober. If they cared about you getting sober, they wouldn't be offering you booze. That's not friends, okay? Ugh. Anyway, just some of the things I see online.
Uh, it just drives me nuts because it it's just people that uh they're they're not making the right right choice here. And you know, I follow this stop drinking subreddit for motivation. These are the kind of things that help keep me motivated to not boo it up because you read somebody's stupid post and you go, alright, yeah, that's a horrible plan. Thank you for reminding me to avoid those kind of situations. Like, I got friends that that's what we do when we get together.
We booze it up. Do you think I'm calling them right now to come hang while I'm trying to, you know, keep it together? No.
No. I'm hunkering down. I'm trying to do positive things, trying to, you know, get proper sleep. I'm failing at that, but that helps.
Yeah. Go to a counselor instead of the stupid party. Get some help. Tell your friends to, you know, get.
All right. And chances are most of the people who, you know, want to invite you over to boo it up with them. As I've gotten older, I realize you probably only have like maybe five real friends. Okay.
Maybe. I know my list is pretty small. But anyway, I got an interview I got to do in a second, so I'll be right back. It's the Victor Wilt show, and I've got early morning guests in the studio. I've got uh Katie and Cara
Speaker 2: from uh you're two different organizations, right? We are. We're two different home care agencies. I am with Comfort Home Care, and
Speaker 3: I'm with Visiting Angels.
Speaker 1: And you've got this great event going on. We just started talking about it last week. Operation Christmas cheer for local veterans. Uh tell us the basics of what that's all about.
Speaker 3: We are so excited that you guys are helping us with this, just first and foremost. Uh it's a project near and dear to our heart. It's to help veterans over the holiday season, make sure they're celebrated and receive something for Christmas. Awesome.
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fantastic. I know a lot of people right now uh, you know, struggling, things are getting more expensive. And, you know, sadly, sometimes, you know, with with uh families and things, veterans, a lot of people might not think about them during the holidays. Uh, what types of things are you guys looking for people to do to help out veterans this holiday season?
Speaker 2: We have received a lot of requests already. Um, everything from, as we know, fuel expenses are way up there and grocery expenses are quite high. We've received a lot of requests for fuel assistance with maybe gift cards or grocery assistance with different local grocery um gift cards would be wonderful. We've had a couple of requests already for lift recliners for some of our elderly veterans who have a harder time getting up out of their chair. So if any furniture stores, um oil changes, we have a lot of veterans that aren't able to get their cars maintained on a regular basis. So really the needs are pretty immense.
Speaker 1: Wow. And uh I know you've got a um, well, there's flyers making the rounds where people can scan the QR code to get linked to the uh donation website if people want to donate something like cash. Um, I did post that link in our apps uh so people don't have to even you know deal with the QR code. Um, you know, as far as some of these other items you're mentioning that people are looking for, what's the best way if somebody has the resources to do so uh to get those items to you folks?
Speaker 3: So, like we said, two different home care agencies, comfort home care, and visiting angels. So you can Google us, you can get on Facebook, you can just call our office. If that's easiest for you, like, hey, how do I help? We can absolutely direct you just over the phone.
Speaker 1: And, you know, if there are people out there who know a veteran who could use some special uh extra assistance this holiday season, uh, you're also taking nominations at the website.
Speaker 2: Absolutely. Both of our um social media sites have um the referral form. You can go on there and click on it. If you don't want to do it that way, just call one of our offices.
We're happy to go do the referral form over the phone. Um, I do also want to mention that we do have a Venmo, Operation Christmas Cheer. And if people wanted to donate, it goes to a nonprofit, and that is at Idaho Central Credit Union called Senior Advocates of Idaho. And so they could just go into their local Idol Central and donate that. And 100% of the donations are going directly to the veterans.
Speaker 1: That's fantastic. And is this the first year you're doing um Operation Christmas cheer?
Speaker 3: It is. So Kara and I got talking, and last year we both had some eye-opening events when it came to our veterans. Um, and we realized we needed to do more. Uh when we had veterans crying because they got a Christmas present for the first time in years, we were like, wow, we we have to do more.
So we just want to make sure no veteran goes without anything. So if you have any inkling in your mind that somebody might need just a tiny pick me up, please call us because we really do want to help.
Speaker 1: And we would love to see the K bear audience help spread the word about this. Uh, I did share the the flyer with the uh QR code on our socials, so you can feel free to save that, share it on your own socials or share our posts. Um, anything you can do to get the word out on Operation Christmas Cheer would be fantastic. And you're accepting nominations through this December 15th. So still plenty of time to get those nominations in at the website or the link, like I said, that you can find in our apps. Um, you know, can't thank you both enough for doing this. Um, like I said, a lot of people really struggling this holiday season, and uh I I've talked to many veterans myself who you know, I I think they're also very proud.
Speaker 3: And
Speaker 2: very much so.
Speaker 1: You know, there are uh many of them not the type of people who are gonna go out and ask for help and you know, like you said, uh something as simple as a little gift. It it can mean a lot to people.
Speaker 3: You might not expect how much. Exactly. Uh we just, yeah, we would love your the community's support. Um, like we said, last year our eyes were really open. So if there's anyone that you're just thinking about and are like, I don't know, they might not accept it. Because what we hear a lot from our veterans is there's somebody that needs it more than I do. But our goal is we just want to help all of you. There's enough for everyone.
Speaker 1: Absolutely. Absolutely. Well, I I think that is just great. Uh, we're gonna be, you know, pumping this thing up all the way through December 15th.
Speaker 2: Uh, thank you.
Speaker 1: And, you know, no matter where you're at in East Idaho, super easy to access those sites where you can nominate a veteran or make a donation. Again, it's uh comfort home care or visiting angels. Uh they're also gonna be joining Classy this morning. So um I hope that the classy audience also runs full steam ahead with this. And I I hope the event is uh or I don't know if it's an event, the operation is
Speaker 2: a is a great success. So
Speaker 3: thank you very much.
Speaker 2: And thank you for helping spread the word. We really appreciate it.
Speaker 1: Absolutely. Operation Christmas cheer, everybody with Comfort Home Care and Visiting Angels. Uh, hit up our apps or their social media pages or websites, nominate a veteran today who could use a little extra Christmas cheer. And you know, anything else you want to add for the community here in East Idaho?
Speaker 2: Um, we just ask people to share if you wanted to get on our social media and share some of our posts about it to help spread the word. If you're a business and you would like to have a flyer or a donation box in your business, we would be more than happy to bring one over and recognize you as a contributor. So just reach out to us. We're here for you. Great.
Speaker 1: And if anybody needs that contact information, you can always call me. Um I can get you in touch with these folks at any time. So if you hear the promo play, hit me up and I I will send send you, send them your way. Wonderful.
Speaker 2: Thank you.
Speaker 3: Well, and we just want to give a really big thank you. We have the most amazing community here in Southeast Idaho, and the people that have already reached out, thank you. And just thank you to our community for we know that you're behind us and everybody has the same goal, and we're just grateful.
Speaker 1: Well, thank you so much for throwing this together, and uh, I hope it's a massive success. And uh, if there's anything else that I can do, uh, you've got my number, hit me up and let me know if there's any uh special needs or new information. I I definitely want to keep things updated during the next uh month and a half while this is happening.
Speaker 2: Absolutely. Thank you.
Speaker 3: Thank you.
Speaker 1: Very nice to meet both of you as well.
Speaker 2: Yes, it's been fun.
Speaker 1: Well, have fun with Josh and Chantel. They're they're they're they're all right. No, they're they're great. They're great.
Speaker 3: We'll give you our honest opinion afterwards.
Speaker 2: Yes, we will.
Speaker 1: We will. I can't wait to hear about it. Give Josh a little bit of grief if you can. Of
Speaker 2: course. You got it.
Speaker 1: All right. Operation Christmas cheer, everybody. Get the information on our websites, and thank you again to both of you for stopping by today.
Speaker 2: Thank you.
Speaker 3: Thank you.
Speaker 1: Okay, where to begin here. Uh, this is freak news. It's well, the way people are trying to save money is freak news to me. Because people are apparently trying to save money by going to the library.
The reason that I find that bizarre is because I have Facebook. I scroll it every day, and it appears to me, in my own opinion, that a lot of people don't know how to read. Um I don't know how many posts, say for example, from East Idaho News.com where somebody reads a headline and then starts spouting off. And they've clearly not read the article whatsoever. Uh also, I don't recall the last time I've seen most people holding a book. Most people tend to get information from things like TikTok videos or memes. Society as a whole seems to be okay, not as a whole. But a uh a fair amount of people seem to be slowly degrading as far as intellect goes.
So, yeah. Hey, if you've never heard of the library, you go there, they give you a card. And not only can you check out books, because I know reading's hard for some people, but they also have things like movies and some have uh video games. Now, to get into the area of our library where they have basically anything that is not a um children's book with pictures in it. You're gonna have to present an ID showing that you're 18 years of age or older, at least in Idaho Falls. I need to go scope the uh pokey library, the Marshall Public Library, a place I spent tons of time as a kid. I need to go see you know if you have to show your ID to check out the Harry Potter books and stuff like that. It's just what our librarians have to do to make it easy on themselves. I talked to the library and one of them at the Idaho Falls Library about this. I'm like, really? Uh, you guys have to check IDs for you know the hunger games? These are books for junior high kids.
Alright. And they're like, you know, it's just easier to put anything that is not the Barenstein Bears on an entire floor of the library. And yeah, sorry, kids. You wanna go to the nonfiction section and learn a little bit of history? You're gonna have to get your parents' permission because apparently our Idaho leadership uh doesn't think children should be able to learn. Um sorry.
I'm on one today, people, if you can't tell already. So yeah, go to the library. They they even sell books cheap. Now, I've picked up many, many books. If you're a book collector, great place to pick up books is the library. Only thing that sucks is sometimes there's stickers in them and stamps inside, and you know, I like a pristine copy, but you know. That's because I'm a collector. All right, if you're looking for a reading copy, the library is just fine.
So make sure to bring your ID with you, okay? It's like voting. Very, very hard to get a book. Yeah. Those Harry Potter books, very scary, very dangerous to humanity. Alright. What else we got here for freaking News?
uh this one I've gotta find out more about, but I gotta do a little workaround here because I'm not gonna pay you guys money news websites to read your stupid articles. Okay, California man, 97 years old. I don't feel bad. Uh talking about this story about a 97-year-old man who uh who died because he was 97, and the way it happened, there's a funny aspect to it. Death doesn't always have to be a big downer.
I mean, most of the time it is, it's very stressful. Uh, it's very sad. But if you're 97 and you die at your own birthday party while listening to the song by the Bee Gees staying alive, that's a way to go. Alright. That's a way to go. You know. You're 97, you're throwing a party, you're disco dancing.
And uh you croak while listening to Stayin Alive. His family said he probably would have been pretty stoked that that's the way he went. Most people, it's not so pleasant. Okay, anyway. Like I said, like I've said before, I I'll probably get eaten by a bear or something. I'll make national news for something stupid like that. Yeah.
K-Bear DJ eaten by bear. Okay, here's another another post that's just gonna get me going. You remember last week how we did the promotion make the switch about the stupid time change? The government is already ramping it up with hey, we're gonna get rid of the time change. They've told us this for a decade.
A decade. It's not illegal for politicians to lie, everybody, okay. It is clear as day that our politicians can do whatever they want. You know how I talked about library cards a minute ago? Did anyone in the public ask that the library become like a adult smut shop where you have to show an ID to look at books?
No. Everybody wants the time change to go away, except for a few lunatics who are like, oh, I don't like it when it's dark outside when I get my kids ready for school. Well, don't move to Alaska.
Don't move to Northern Idaho, okay? Uh, right now, it's uh eight o'clock. It was dark out when kids were going to school this morning. Okay? Shut up about it. Well, anyway, Trump has urged Congress to pass a daylight savings bill after ridiculous early sunset. You still have the same Congress in power, Trump. Does he not? Look at all of the things that Trump has done in the last two years. Okay?
I'm not gonna make a big list. But they are much more uh impactful and extreme than putting an end to the time change. You wanna tell me that Trump doesn't have the power to stop the time change?
This is just pandering, and they do it every year, year after year, every six months. We're gonna get rid of the time change, but then magically they can't do it. But we can do everything else that has happened, both in our state. Our state leaders could do it.
Yo, re-elected Brad Little. If you can ban truck nuts, if you can make the library like a prison, you can get rid of the time change. If anyone in America could stop the time change, it's President Trump.
Was he talking about? Oh, Congress, please get the job done. You've been doing tons of stuff without congressional approval. Do something that everyone can agree on and like.
Could we have one thing that politicians do that everyone agrees on? When's the last time that happened? This article infuriates me. We're helpless, we're helpless with the time change. We just can't do it.
We can't do anything. Liars. Jeez.
I mean, all it takes to know that these guys can just make things up and lie, and it's not illegal is look at all the political ads we had to put up with for the last few months. Ugh. Give me a break. Come on, Congress, please. It's your Congress right now. Just tell them to do it. Shut up.
Everyone in Congress is gonna agree. But I guess it's just too much to ask. And uh, okay, here we'll get something a little funnier.
Sorry. I just when I see politicians talking about daylight saving time and the time change, uh my head is about ready to explode every single time. They are so full of crap that they can't do anything about this. Uh, let's talk about sad nipple syndrome.
What is it? Well, there are no official studies into it, but it's in been linked to the feeling of impending doom. Uh, I guess it's the feeling of impending doom that can be triggered from the slight touch of a nipple. Okay. Well, the I could think of reasons that might happen. Maybe somebody you don't want touching you touches you. That might trigger unhappiness, uneasiness, or a feeling of impending doom. Or maybe sadness, discomfort, anxiety, irritability. Yeah, um, don't touch other people.
And then maybe sad nipple syndrome wouldn't be a thing. Have you ever experienced it? Well, chances are it's because somebody touched you who you didn't want anywhere near you.
Don't touch other people without their consent. Would like to give a big shout out and God can't talk. Uh, sorry everybody, I know I've been yelling a lot today, but this morning's been kind of dumb. Um, anyway, would like to give thanks to Jay Davis for coming in here and uh you know, overlading overloading my brain even more and making me more frazzled. Thank you, buddy. You're the best. I don't even remember what he told me I needed to do now.
You Yeah. Just too many distractions. What do I got open in these tabs? What can we talk about? Already talked about sad nipple syndrome.
Let's see here. AI helped Stanford scientists discover a natural Ozempic with a surprising advantage. What is it? Exercise?
What are you talking about? Okay, it's some kind of a molecule called BRP. And it reduced food intake by up to 50% and targets a different brain pathway, raising hopes for a more precise obesity treatment if future human trials prove successful. Alright, well, that's great. Um, You know, if you're uh currently taking the jab and losing weight, be aware they're working on some other things.
I know there are some side effects I've read about with uh you know these GLP ones. A lot of people call it uh, you know, like Ozempic face. I just call it Jade Davis face. I don't know if you've seen him, but hey, that's good. That's good.
Scientific breakthrough, at least scientists somewhere still able to do research and get some stuff done with all the uh uh anti-science sentiment that has popped up in the last decade or so in this country. Uh, do I have anything else here? Mayor from a small Quebec town charged with stealing Bicardi rum five times. Okay. So we went in this okay. I guess he went in the uh liquor store five different occasions and uh stole a stole a bottle of booze. Oh and this guy is the mayor of a small north town of Montreal, ran unopposed. See, this is the problem when people know they can just coast into office. You end up with people like this guy. He's a shoplifting mayor, he's a drunk.
Well, sure things are going great in Montreal. All right, what else do we have here? Um, No, that one's not very fun. That's enough for now.
I'll be back in a minute. I just got a good idea from a listener. He was headed to the laundromat. He was telling me about how in his passenger seat he's got his big pile of laundry, and his car is having a fit because it says you know, his passenger needs to buckle up, and we got talking about laundry, which is one of the scourges of my existence. I've talked about mount laundry at my home. Forgot to change the laundry over this morning, so that's pissing me off, but I'll just start the load again when I when I get there later. But anyhow, he was like, dude, going to the laundromat's great, because they have gigantic washing machines. You can just take all your laundry and get it all done at once. So maybe what I'll do uh after I think there's some kind of errands I need to run today.
Seems like there was some kind of crap I needed to get at the pet store that I forgot when I went and bought more bugs yesterday. While I'm out doing that, I guess I'll just get a bunch of garbage bags and I'll bring all my laundry to the laundromat and just wash all of it at once, just all of it. I'll just load up multiple washing machines and I'll just get a book and I'll sit in the laundromat and read and at least get it washed. Will it get put away? Doubtful, but you know, at least it'll all be clean, and I can get my laundry room in order.
That would be nice to get uh that done at least. Got so much crap to do around my house. If only I could take all of the carpet in my house to the laundromat, that would be nice.
Uh if there's anybody out there who'd like to uh you know, chat about full house carpet cleaning, I don't think I'll ever get the time, even though I you know paid a bunch of money for an industrial grade carpet cleaner to get around and doing that. So uh, yeah, at least I can get the laundry pile out of the way. There's a laundromat right around the corner from my house. So maybe some nice quiet time at the laundromat would be would be cool. Except for whatever reason that area near said laundromat is cop central as of late.
Yeah, went to Winco to spend an outrageous amount of money on our overpriced groceries yesterday as well. And the last like three days, I've seen so many cops. I'm like, do I live in the ghetto? Do I live in the worst part of town? Why are there 10 billion cops with lights flashing in my neighborhood at that intersection of Woodruff and First Street ever since On Patrol Live showed up in Idaho Falls?
You know, what is it? What's it there have to be more exciting neighborhoods to be to be patrolling? I mean, I don't care, sure, if you're you're dealing with people breaking the law, fine. But it's like I've lived in that neighborhood for what, like 12 years? I have seen more cops in my neighborhood in the last three days than I have in the entire 12 years I've lived in that neighborhood. What's going down at the laundromat? Huh?
Or is it Planet Fitness? Do we got, you know, dudes getting too swole and they just lose their minds? I bet if I throw on another episode of On Patrol Live, it's just gonna be more crap in my neighborhood. Like I've driven all over Idaho Falls. And I know what areas that crazy stuff goes down. Do they go downtown at all?
Ever? That's where the crazy just it's nighttime, go downtown. Go to the bars. I mean, it would be so easy as a cop to reach your quota if you just hung out at the bar. All right, just patrol the bars. I'm not trying to get people at the bars nervous, but I've been to many a bar in my day. Pretty much every bar, you got people, you know, doing illegal things outside of the bar in plain sight.
No, let's keep an eye on Winco. You know, I I don't know what is that just is the bar scene not fun enough for on patrol live? I think I saw somebody mention they had uh, you know, driven by you uh, you know, a bar in downtown on on patrol live, but I'm getting sick of seeing my neighborhood on it. Like I said earlier on the show, or maybe I said it online.
I don't know. About ready to sell my house and just move to the middle of nowhere. About had it with society. Y'all having a good day? I'm having a good day. I got 10 billion things to do. At least the show's going by fairly quick.
We made it to this time of the day. Oh, look, it wasn't even time for me to talk. I can't even focus. Am I out of yeah, I'll get some more coffee. Screw it. Alright.
So anyway, if you haven't watched any on patrol live, you should. You can get a good look at my neighborhood. Apparently the worst neighborhood in Idaho Falls. Yeah, what why don't they take a trip to I don't know, a local park in the middle of the night? You know, do I need to uh sit down with Lieutenant Crane and have a talk with them about uh, you know, street knowledge, you know?
You got people who uh you know are book learners, you got people who are street learners, all right. It's not very hard to figure out where stuff's going down. I don't like being backed up in traffic when I'm trying to get to my house because I don't know, they need TV footage. When are those guys leaving town? Go away.
It's gotten very annoying. Let the cops get back to doing whatever they usually do, hiding behind billboards. Traffic schools don't go down tomorrow morning at uh 8 45 a.m. It's when I hang out with the cops. I I want to be hassled by the cops once a week. I mean, I didn't get directly harassed by the cops, but inconvenienced by the police once a week with Lieutenant Green of the Idaho State Police, and I'm putting full blame on On Patrol Live because I have never seen as many police out and about as I have in the past few weeks, and I've lived in this city for like 15 years, all right.
It has to be on patrol live. Who's to blame? I'm moving to the desert, everybody.
I should be able to, you know, in Slab City live off the uh probably small profits from my home for a little bit. Kind of feel like today's show should have happened in October because I'm just drifting toward dark content. Can't help it. It's just what's popping up.
Just stumbled across a thread. People who knew a murderer, what happened? And my first question popped into my head was are there people out there who didn't know a murderer? Did I live a bizarre life or something? Nah, just a normal life in East Idaho.
Yeah. I've known multiple murderers. Or at least met them.
Yeah. I met that freak show Chad Daybell at AI. I did a live broadcast at a uh like prepper convention. I think it was in Rexburg.
I'm out broadcasting live. You know, making the rounds at all the boots, and I remember him selling his nutty books. So I met that that creep.
The guy who recently uh allegedly killed his uncle with a electric tennis racket, went to school with that guy. And I'm not even gonna get it started on my customers in Burley, alright? Burley, you know.
The I'll nicely call it the armpit of Idaho, even though there's a much better words for it. You know how many of my customers went to jail for killing people. Multiple. I don't know how many, because it's burly. You can't count. You can't count that high.
It's too hard to keep track. I mean, geez, I've told the story about the hotel I stayed at in Burley when I first moved there. I stayed there for like a week till I could find a place to live.
Yeah, a few months after, you know, I uh moved into town. I believe it was the owner of the hotel, or at least the manager, was found in the office of the hotel, murdered under the floorboards. Alright, that was my introduction to Burley. And I'm not gonna get into all the other grisly stories out of that town, but I've even had friends murdered. And it seems like everybody I've talked to is uh had that kind of story, at least in uh my friends group, and none of them are murderers, they're not bad people.
You just I don't know. Just tend to encounter them, right? I'm sure if I uh was to bring up a list of Idaho murderers, I I could scroll through it, look at pictures, and be like, oh yeah, I remember that guy. Uh, I remember them. That's a sad fact. You shouldn't have to go through life knowing murderers, right? Jeez.
Jays. Alright, this person just said uh I got a new job, didn't have a person training me, so I latched on to a guy around my age from the same recruiter. It seemed fairly nice if a little awkward. About two weeks into the new role, he didn't show up for work on Monday. My boss said he was out with a family emergency.
Turns out, uh, yeah, he had murdered somebody and was in prison. Okay. Um, it's probably gonna be a bunch of stories like this, right? Should we talk about murder all day? Maybe I've been watching too much true crime. Anywho, um, I hope you don't personally ever have to experience having a friend or family member or somebody murdered, it's horrible. Uh, and I hope you don't have to meet any murderers, because they're creeps, they're, you know. There, you can always, well, not always, but a lot of times you can tell something's off with somebody. Now, other murderers, you know, they just seem like normal, fine upstanding people. I remember how many people were defending Chad and Lori Daybell during that whole thing when their kids were missing. Tons, tons. They had online forums.
You could go in and read the support. You know, people will believe that's you know if they like somebody, they'll believe any kind of nonsense about them, no matter you know how many people say otherwise. Alright. So just keep an eye out. Wacky beliefs is a good start toward identifying people with potentially dangerous mental issues. So since the world seems to be just spiraling downward, maybe the end times are coming. Maybe they are. Maybe AI is ready to switch off the simulation.
Or else it's like SimCity. Where finally they go, Alright. Time to torch this world I've created.
I don't know. I'm not having an optimistic day, as you can tell. Uh, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people have tuned out today.
I'll try to find something fun for the next break. But I saw the phrase, people who knew a murderer, what happened? And was just like I can't believe that uh this is a question that a lot of people don't go. Well, of course.
Who doesn't? Alright, everybody, we or at least I made it through the show. I don't know how many of you did. Don't worry, tomorrow's Friday. It'll be better. We got Lieutenant Crane coming in and all that stuff. So traffic school should hopefully go good. Maybe tonight I'll get some sleep.
We'll see. Anyway, uh, before I leave, I know on the last break, I was like, I'm gonna find something cheery and positive to talk about. This isn't uh horrible, we're not talking about murderers or anything like that, but as I was scrolling Facebook today, you know, it's still a cesspool of political talk, you know. Yep, we got election results yesterday and things like that, and now everybody's losing their minds about the future, and one of the big topics that's making the rounds is uh Medicare for all, and there's a ton of discussion going on about this. I saw some guy post one of the most ridiculous statements I've seen in a long time, and it was very confusing because I know all the talking points on each side, and all the you know, same arguments people make that they saw in a meme, or they saw from a news clip or a political ad.
I know all that stuff, so that's just not a surprise to be in there. But they were like, How excited are you gonna be when we end up with Medicare for all a four-day work week and blah blah blah, and all these things that sound pretty good to me? I mean, there was a viral clip of Shane Gillis going around on the Joe Rogan show a couple weeks ago where he was talking about how awesome medical care for all would be, and so I want to talk about private insurance right now. Seeing that post where somebody was talking about how awful Medicare for All would be. Anytime I see that, it makes me crazy because people clearly don't understand how private insurance works.
Why should I have to pay with my tax dollars for everybody else's health care? Okay. One, would you like to see that fat insurance bill that you currently have disappeared because I mean, if we can spend how much have we spent on uh blowing up Iran?
Okay. Uh I bet that if you put all that money toward the people of America, it could probably you know help out with something like that. But here's my main point. If you haven't tuned out yet, if you are paying for private insurance, you're not even using your tax dollar to pay for other people's insurance, you're using money that could be in your pocket that the government didn't take away from you, okay? Private insurance, you pay outrageous amounts of money every month for it, right? And the rates just went up.
Awesome. Yep, prices are coming down. Uh, you are paying for the insurance and health care of everyone else who is paying into private insurance. You're already paying for other people's health care.
Okay, it's as simple as that. Would you rather it be with the money the government's already taking from you? Or all of that extra money that you're paying right now, and there are plans out there where they could do it that wouldn't change you know what you're paying in taxes, tax wall street, okay. Tax people who say there's no point in saving money. Tax the people who can spend hundreds of millions of dollars on political ads that do nothing.
Alright? If we tax these people, we can cover these kind of problems, but no, I just keep taking it out of my paycheck. You know, I've I love spending thousands of dollars a month on insurance, and then I still have to meet a deductible, and I still have to pay the majority of my medical bills and the way they set it up. Chances are you're not going to meet your deductible by the end of the year. Private insurance is one of the most ridiculous setups.
I don't want to use the word scam. But it's it's just ridiculous that somehow people have been convinced that's the way to go. As far as my opinion goes. Because I pay tons of money for it. I don't get my money's worth out of it. And it's subsidizing other people's health care. That's the truth. There's no argument against it. If you are paying in to private health care, you are paying for other people's health care. You know, if you're paying for private insurance. So I just wanted to remind you of that.
Okay. I know they they like to do a lot of uh, you know, manipulation of words to convince people that this is great, but no, you're just making a bunch of uh insurance companies rich. And these insurance companies, they love to deny coverage.
I've been dealing with that with my daughter's car accident. Denying coverage, you know, for whatever reason they can, they'll deny coverage, even though you're paying all that money, and it's after you've already been taxed to death by the government. So keep fighting for it. Keep fighting to keep your private insurance. It's so great that is, you know, helping other people who are paying tons of money when they need to go to the doctor.
Just not the people who can't afford insurance. Screw them, right? Yeah. All right. Angry Victor's done for the day.
I'll try to have a positive noon out. Oh, we got an argument rolling in. Let's let's go. Let's party. K-Bear, you are live on the show. Keep that in mind. Who's this?
Speaker 4: Dude, can we just stop with a political rant?
Speaker 1: No.
Speaker 4: It's End of election season, dude. Like, come on, man.
Speaker 1: So? Um, there are radio shows that all they do 24-7 is talk about politics. Why am I not allowed to?
Speaker 4: Because it's not the it's not the K-Bear radio station that people turn in for that tune in for.
Speaker 1: Um, a lot of people tell me they really enjoy my rants, even that disagree with me.
Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, have
Speaker 1: you ever watched?
Speaker 4: Have you ever watched have you ever watched the movie Private Parts by Howard Stern?
Speaker 1: Or about Howard Stern. You should watch it. You should watch uh, you know, his discussions with management about the angry letters that they get at management about the topics he has on his show.
And a lot of them, you know, the reason that they uh send the letters because they keep tuning in to hear more. I mean, I'm not for you can go listen to uh Shaggy talk about Sunshine and Rainbows on the pick. Some days I talk about, you know, uh poop stories.
Some days I'm talking about vomit. Earlier, I had on a charitable group that is looking to help veterans for the holiday season. And uh, yeah, I'm just trying to explain how private health care works because some people don't seem to understand. So I'm also doing a service to the community by being a little bit educational. I mean, did I say any did I say anything offensive about uh private insurance other than that it's kind of a kind of a ripoff?
Speaker 4: I think everybody knows that it's a ripoff.
Speaker 1: Then why are you mad at me?
Speaker 4: Because it's not it's a rock radio station, it's not a political radio station.
Speaker 1: It's a radio station, dude. There's a like, okay. Should I only let's go to the rock news and see what's uh what's happening that's interesting?
Speaker 4: What could I talk about what could I be talking about here? All right. Uh let's see. Oh, that's an article about um Tom Morello uh Rage Against the Machine. Uh let's see, that's political. So if I'm talking about rage against the machine, can I talk politics? Well, when was the last time Rage was in the news about anything?
Speaker 1: They're in the news right now.
Speaker 4: For what?
Speaker 1: Political
Speaker 4: stuff.
Speaker 1: Political stuff.
Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1: No, that's why they're about it. That's generally why they're always in the news. They're rage against the machine. Darren Malakin of System of a Down was in the news three days ago for political stuff. Uh, should I talk about instead? Uh, let's see. Aaron Jones has a new song out.
Speaker 4: I don't I don't know. I don't know who that is.
Speaker 1: Well, you should
Speaker 4: because we've played we've played his music plenty of times. He's got a new song coming out. He's got a new album. Let's see. Do you want to know Zach Wilde's uh favorite acoustic guitar players of all time? Don't care. Okay.
Speaker 1: Well, you cared enough about what I had to say, or at least the the subject matter to call. So I think the fact that I got you to call means this break was more successful than if I named Zach Wilde's favorite acoustic guitar players of all time. There's nothing happening in the rock world that's very exciting. Do you want me to talk about the new Iron Maiden graphic novel?
Speaker 4: Just play music, dude.
Speaker 1: Got Spotify.
Speaker 4: Do you got Spotify, dude? That's what radio's for. That's why people listen to radio. You can get music. You don't want me to support the local radio stations, what you're saying.
Speaker 1: Oh, you can you can uh if you if you want to hear just music, turn on uh Cannonball 101 or fire up the alt 101 app. It's very similar to K-Bear, minus the new music. The difference between radio and music on demand is the DJs and what whatever they feel like talking about. I didn't say anything offensive.
Speaker 4: No, you're just going on a rant about stuff that we're tired of hearing about.
Speaker 1: The election season over and it's just, it's old, dude.
Speaker 4: This shit comes along with few years.
Speaker 1: Hey, hey, hey, hey, if you want to talk the show.
Speaker 4: And it's not Hey, if you want to talk to me on if you want to talk to me on the show. You can't swear if you want to talk to me on the show, dude. Play by the rules.
Speaker 1: But
Speaker 4: it's
Speaker 1: just... hey, hey, hey, what is your Facebook feed look like look like right now? What is the news look like?
Speaker 4: look like?
Speaker 1: What is your news feed look like right now? It's all politics.
Speaker 4: It's yeah, the election's over, but that's all that's in the news. What do you expect me to do? I've been digging, and I talked about all kinds of other stuff on the show today. All kinds of other stuff.
Speaker 1: I
Speaker 4: just play music.
Speaker 1: You guys, you guys like to only hear one thing. You you're like, you hear me make one political rant, and you go, all you talk about is politics. Dude, the majority of my show every single day is a bunch of silly stupid crap. All right.
It's okay for once in a while me to have an opinion because it's it's my show. It's like bands who get up on stage and decide to make a political statement. It's their stage. I'm not forcing you to listen.
Speaker 4: Well, people go to they go and pay to see them. We're not paying to hear you rant about something that we don't care about, dude.
Speaker 1: And do you know what you have? A button you can push to turn me off, dude.
Speaker 4: All right, like this one?
Speaker 1: Yeah, but there you go. Bye bye. I did not hang up on that guy. He hung up on me. Let's go to the next call.
Speaker 5: Hey,
Speaker 1: what's up, Bob? Hey, K-Bear, how's it going? What's up? Let's fight. Let's go.
Speaker 5: I'm not gonna fight on my ear side. Okay.
Speaker 1: Well, thank you.
Speaker 5: I
Speaker 1: okay, I know I know what listener this is. I know what listener this is. This is Stuart. And Stuart has listened to the show for many, many years. Is the is all I talk about politics on this program? No.
Speaker 5: You've talked about Jeff. Um
Speaker 1: Yeah. prior to that.
Speaker 5: Prior to that was hey, have you ever met a murderer? Nobody called and complained about that, even though I'm talking about people who kill people. Well, if you know, the reason I tune in is like the uh line from uh Private Parks is to hear what you're gonna say next.
Speaker 1: Exactly. And you know, the the next topic would definitely be something different.
Speaker 5: I just You know, and to tell you the truth, I I've started tuning out in the afternoons when there is no more host, and it's just music. It's like I I like the K Bear playlist. But if I'm going just music, I'm gonna just pick what I want to listen to.
Speaker 1: Yeah, like I'm looking back at the titles of my uh podcast recently. Um let's see. I talked about on patrol live, keeping it local. I talked about how there's cops all over the place and uh how my neighborhoods apparently uh the ghetto and watching police arrest people at my local uh Maverick. That was one of the topics. Um I talked about uh a dead camel with a skeleton on its back, terrorizing Arizona. I talked about I talked about recommending disgusting horror novels to BYU Idaho students on an airplane when I uh flew to Phoenix. I talked about uh Grand Theft Auto. I talked about how local radio host Neil Larson offers up daily shark analysis according to you know the advertisements for his radio station.
Uh I talked about a guy fighting a bear in his daughter's bedroom. I mean, geez, people. Like all I did was point out that if you're paying for private health insurance, you're paying for other people's health care. God.
Speaker 5: It's a it's the same thing goes for auto insurance. If you're paying for auto insurance, you're group funding everybody else's bad habits.
Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly. And I'm just trying to get some uh a little bit of uh you know knowledge and common sense out there because people are nuts. And yeah, two tune out. Geez, it's not that hard. Tune in and listen to, like I said, uh Josh and Chantel, they're right down the hole talking about sunshine and rainbows, okay? They're there, you can listen to them. And now watch, I'm sure that guy is gonna call the front desk or Jade and be like, oh, he's arguing with me on air and won't shut up about politics. I can go ahead and go through the whole show because I know this morning I was ranting raving about all kinds of stuff. I was frustrated today, but it was very little political stuff, very, very little.
Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, I hear you.
Speaker 1: Gee, here's another title of a podcast. Leonardo DiCaprio is apparently fat. Okay, these are the things that I talk about. Five day fart retreats. Naked river pursuit pursuits. Uh a guy having a meltdown over 25 cents of ice cream. This show is usually really, really stupid content. The minute I bring up something uh that affects us all, like I'm willing to sit here and take calls and argue with people all day. I guarantee that'll keep people listening.
Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
Speaker 1: So if anybody wants to fight, my show's officially over. I got a lot of work to do, but I'll sit in this seat and answer live calls. We can fight about whatever you want. All right. Let's do it. You you have complaints uh during the 10 o'clock hour.
The K-Bear complaint line is officially open. I'd much rather you chat it out with me than be a crybaby and uh, you know, call the bosses because you disagree with something I had to say, or you think I need to talk about nothing but rock music all day long. Uh okay. Uh I I expect the next time that uh I don't know, I go out to I mean, I'm not drinking, but if let's say I go to a bar, I don't want to hear anybody talk about anything except booze. Nothing. You can only talk about the drinks there and stuff that has to do with that particular establishment. Uh that it's it's ridiculous.
You know, if I'm in the grocery line at Walmart, if the discussion has anything to do with anything aside from products sold in that store, I don't want to hear about it.
Speaker 5: Sounds good, man.
Speaker 1: All right, sorry, Stuart. I didn't mean to yell.
Speaker 5: No, you're all good.
Speaker 1: That's a good one. Somebody else is calling to yell at me, hopefully. Let's see what they got. K-Bear, the K-Bear complaint line officially open. What you got for me?
Speaker 6: I just want to say I I approve of your content about the health care system right now. When a person works 40 hours a week and half of their paycheck has to go to pay insurance. It's bullshit.
Speaker 1: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey, same as Alaska. You can't swear on the air, man.
Speaker 6: Okay. It's bull crap. I apologize for my language. And since
Speaker 1: uh since everybody didn't hear what you said before you swore because I had to dump it out, you you'll have to repeat the beginning.
Speaker 6: Okay, I appreciate your honesty and everything about the health care. And it is bull crap that they charge you $500 a paycheck for private health insurance. Me personally, I work 40 hours a week. I don't have health insurance. I would rather die than go to the hospital. And that's probably what will happen is I will die on the job. Or I will die at home before I go to a doctor because it costs so much to see a doctor for 15 minutes just to say, here's some pills. And go on with your life.
Speaker 1: Yeah,
Speaker 6: personally, I have type two diabetes, and they say, oh, well, here, take Met Foreman. They don't look at the natural options that you can take to get rid of the blood sugars in your system and the proper diet you can take. They don't want to talk about that.
They want just want to put prescription after prescription on top of you to the point where you're suffocating under doctor's bills and prescriptions that you gotta pay for every month. That's the only thing I have to say.
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I I
Speaker 6: for as for the political part, yeah, it's your show, like you said. You have every right to say what you want to do, and I respect that as a as a fellow American.
Speaker 1: And did it did anybody did anybody during the entire political season hear me say you should vote for blank. You should vote for this, you should vote for that. No, I don't tell people, you know, how to vote. Um I often I I
Speaker 6: might talk about a specific political issue of which there was nothing on Idaho's ballot relating to Medicare for all. I was reading posts from people who live in Michigan, because I got people from you know friends from all over the country, and I read this post where somebody was talking about how worried they were about it, and I just wanted to point out if you're paying for private insurance, you're paying for other people's health care. Uh simple statement.
Speaker 1: Because a lot of people a lot of people live in an
Speaker 6: echo chamber and they don't get other perspectives. That's how the social media algorithms work. They feed you stuff that you like so that you continue scrolling and clicking like they you know they they don't present different ideas to people.
So I have a a platform where I can give a different perspective, and it it's never offensive. I'm I'm never like calling people stupid. I totally under I totally understand that. What I was trying to get to was that, you know, that just like you said to that last caller that was arguing with you when he said he wanted to click off and he hung up on you. He has that right to turn the the radio station. He doesn't have to listen to your red all day if he doesn't want to.
Speaker 1: That's his personal choice. There's and I I fully respect both both sides of the party because I'm on both sides. There's days I don't want to listen to you talk, so I just turn the radio into a different station. Yeah. It's nothing against you, it's just my personal choice. Exactly.
Speaker 6: And that's like health and health care comes down to the same thing. It's my personal choice whether I participate in the in the big health care group or not. And me personally, if I can't pay for a doctor, I'm not gonna go.
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the we've had features on K-Bair from other uh like okay, uh my my homie, you know, who used to work here till recently, uh, he had a pe uh a feature about sports, okay, every afternoon. He did a sports feature. What does sports have to do with rock? We never got a single complaint about sports talk, and this is not a sports talk station.
Speaker 6: Exactly. I I totally agree with you. Uh you have every right to talk about what your what your program is set up for is what you set up for, and it's it's through your station. I
Speaker 1: mean, we
Speaker 6: are like
Speaker 1: we're legally required by the FCC to talk about things in our community, like the uh fundraiser that I talked about earlier with the uh you know the very nice women who came in and talked with me about uh you know making holidays better for veterans. We're required to talk about things in our community. What talking with them, what did that have to do with music? Nothing.
Speaker 6: Nothing to do with music.
Speaker 1: But it was something important for our community. Uh me talking about, I don't know, a new restaurant opening in town, or talking about them tearing down the Idaho Falls water tower. What does that have to do with music?
Nothing. If I sat here and only talked about music all day, no one would listen to the show because they're gonna get bored of nothing but rock and metal news.
Speaker 6: I I totally agree with you and I totally understand.
Speaker 1: My main point is everybody has the right to turn you off or turn the different stations. They don't want to hear what you have to say. Exactly.
Speaker 6: They should not they should not attack you personally because of the way you believe. I don't believe a lot of your facts are factual, but I'm not also gonna argue with you on air about it because of the fact, you know, you have your personal beliefs, I have my personal beliefs.
Speaker 1: Oh, that's what makes America that's what makes America great, is we can agree to disagree and move on. We don't have to be Karen's, we don't have to be charans about it, because what you what you believe is what you believe, as long as it doesn't affect my rights as a as a constitutional
Speaker 6: person in America, then I have no problem with it.
Speaker 1: Exactly, man. And I really appreciate what you've had to say, and I wish you would call and argue with me. I think it's a lot more fun when people call in and take part in the show.
Speaker 6: You know, a very few, very few radio stations here in East Idaho are actually doing a live show. Most all of them are pre-recorded. Uh so part of what we can do is have on air discussions, and it's not gonna be be the echo chamber you'd get if you tune into something like the Neil Larson show. We could have actual discussions on all kinds of issues, but it you know, when people call and say this is a music station, you should only talk about music, that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. No.
Speaker 1: Because what there's so much happening.
Speaker 6: You gotta have you gotta have local sponsorship in order for that music to play for everybody else.
Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly.
Speaker 6: It's just like it's just like commercials. You know, you gotta have to deal with the commercials to listen to the music that you listen to.
Speaker 1: You know, should I?
Speaker 6: It's a matter of give it's a matter of give and take. You give so much, you take so much.
Speaker 1: And if you don't want to give, or if
Speaker 6: you don't want to give and you want to take all the time, there ain't gonna be anything for anybody to take because everybody's taking it already.
Speaker 1: Oh, and I I get the same grief on social media, because on social media, I'm a lot more open with political stuff and what I actually think. I keep it fairly vague on air, but people will get on there and be like, hey, dude, you should only be talking about music, and I'm like, okay, why aren't you only talking about McDonald's on your posts? You know, that's where you
Speaker 6: know why aren't you only talking about being a uh sheet metal fabricator? Why are you posting about all these other things? You should only be allowed to talk about what you do for a job.
Speaker 1: Like
Speaker 6: well, I'm on my social media, all it is is uh bad memes that I find off of other people's posts. I repost a lot of stuff that I think is hilarious, but I've got a dark sense of humor.
Speaker 1: I I see, and I
Speaker 6: can't I keep my social media pretty clean because uh I've had enough instances where somebody's gonna call management and complain, and it that's another ridiculous thing I'll never understand. You know, if if I see somebody post something on social media that I disagree with, I'm not gonna call their boss and you know, tell them they deserve they need to be fired. They it it happened last week on social media. Somebody saying I needed to be fired. I went to job interviews, and people have pulled up my Facebook feed just to see what I'm about. And they I've had employers, huge or uh people that I've interviewed with, look at me and say, You are a sick and twisted individual for some of the crap that you like on Facebook.
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6: And I'm like, that is my personal life. I didn't ask you to pull that up. I didn't authorize you to pull that up. You don't you chose to go by you made a judgment off of my Facebook post, then that's your problem. That has nothing to do with my qualifications for this job.
Speaker 1: I know I don't see why you're even talking to me about it. I totally agree with you, but yeah, I
Speaker 6: I bet that I would bet that the majority of employers everywhere now are looking at people's social media pages uh when when they're going through the review process. And that's why I tell a lot of people like you should delete those posts.
You know, if you are if you're ever trying to find a job, they're going to see that, and uh that's gonna disqualify you. But you know, well, I I appreciate the music you guys play, and I appreciate the commentary sometimes from your things and whatnot. And like I it all comes back to the choices I make are my personal choices in my vehicle.
Speaker 1: Yeah, I appreciate everything that you guys do, no matter whether you're playing music or talking on the radio or whatever, you know. I just want to put that out there. Well, I appreciate it, man.
I really appreciate it. And again, when I bring up a political issue on the show, it's so tame. It's so tame that you know, it's not like I'm attacking politicians. I don't uh call them out by name and go, this person is scum, blah blah blah, and talk about all the
Speaker 6: horrible you know things happening in politics. I talk about issues that affect us all and maybe a little bit of perspective on it, but always in a non-offensive way, but people disagree and get mad and think that uh somehow I'm doing something wrong, even though I'm just trying to have a discussion like a normal human being, you
Speaker 1: know?
Speaker 6: Yeah, well, that's their hang up, and they need to get over themselves and figure it out for themselves what they want to listen to. And like I said, they have the right to turn the channel or turn the radio off if they don't want to.
Speaker 1: Exactly.
Speaker 6: If they don't want to listen to it, so
Speaker 1: fire up Spotify and listen to music all day. It's that's what it's for.
Speaker 6: Exactly.
Speaker 1: You can even pick all the songs.
Speaker 6: You can pick all the songs. Well, I I'm a long haul truck driver, so I go back east a lot, and you know, uh know... Chamber's is pretty tame compared to a lot of places around Chicago and stuff like that.
Speaker 1: Oh, I know.
Speaker 6: I know when it comes to political political stuff.
Speaker 1: Oh, I I absolutely know, and I think if a
Speaker 6: lot of people listen to uh any of these syndicated programs that make the rounds that do air here in East Idaho from other states, yeah, you're gonna hear a lot of politics on music stations. So well, the sad thing is I'm still hearing on my uh Facebook on my Facebook feed, I'm still getting news from Nebraska, even though I'm here in Idaho. Even though, even though I'm gonna be headed back through Nebraska later today.
Speaker 1: So I totally, you know. Well, I'm sorry, man. Good luck in Nebraska.
Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. I'm headed to Ohio, so it's not a big deal.
Speaker 1: Right on, man.
Speaker 6: Well, you have a good day. Keep up the good work, and I appreciate everything you guys do.
Speaker 1: Hey, thanks, man. Appreciate it. Peace. Yep.
Speaker 6: K my rocks. Thanks.
Speaker 1: Hey, thanks, man. Bye. All right, caller. Thank you for your patience. The complaint line is open. What do you got for me?
Speaker 6: What up, brother?
Speaker 1: Just uh hanging out, you know. Uh apparently uh trying to find some rock news to talk about. Uh I'm sorry that earlier I talked about the date the dangers of alcohol. Um, you know, that wasn't rock related, so I'll make sure not to talk about uh things like that again.
Speaker 6: Yeah,
Speaker 4: I don't
Speaker 6: know about all that.
Speaker 1: I'm
Speaker 4: Pretty
Speaker 6: sure you have a million listeners out here.
Speaker 1: If I had a million,
Speaker 6: that would be a good one.
Speaker 4: awesome. You don't just talk about rock music.
Speaker 1: Um do you have a radio on in the background or something?
Speaker 6: That's my two-way radio in my dispatch.
Speaker 1: I did turn it down. Okay, cool.
Speaker 6: I turn it down. Oh shit.
Speaker 1: I I I asked nicely.
Speaker 6: Here you go. Oh, yeah. Get your boxing gloves out. Let's let's let's fight.
Speaker 1: All right, let's fight. What you got? What do you got?
Speaker 6: So uh I'm totally on board with talking about whatever you want. I mean, it's your show.
Speaker 1: We have the right to listen to your show or it's just like
Speaker 6: uh I went to highly suspect, and he just started going on about politics. He's like, it's my show, I'll talk about what I want. You know, I guess you don't have to come do it.
Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 6: But uh I d I don't go to a certain guy because he's really religious. He doesn't seem religious, but like I guess he busts into like religious things. It's like, dude, if I want to hear about the church and God, and I'm I'll probably go to church and I don't really go to church, so
Speaker 1: yeah.
Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1: Um, I mean, there's a variety of people on the radio in the area, so I can think of a few. Uh, but yeah.
Speaker 6: I'm talking a famous singer.
Speaker 1: Oh, oh, okay. Uh all right, yeah. There's a few of those too. But uh it's their right.
Speaker 6: That's my right not to go to his show. Like
Speaker 1: I know what I'm getting myself into. I do the homework, so I mean, yeah, and it's I know what he does, so I'm not gonna pay to go see him, you know what I mean? And it's their right, it's their absolute right to get up on stage and talk about that if they want. And again, uh like if all I talked about was political issues and I sounded like you know, Rush Limbaugh or something, and was just going off the rails and clearly, you know, being one-sided. Like I've talked about how I used to sell guns. You know, I'm I'm from Idaho. So I look at uh politics probably a little bit differently than maybe someone with similar beliefs in somewhere like Portland. Okay.
Speaker 6: So, you know, I come from a family of ranchers and hunters and uh cowboys, and you know, I was born and raised in Idaho. I think I uh uh run it pretty safe, and I I know who I work for, so I don't get into my like deep thoughts on politics. I didn't even say whether I thought Medicare for all was good. I just said, hey, note if you're paying for private insurance, you're paying for other people's health care. It was just a simple, like, you know, kind of get people to think a little bit differently.
Speaker 1: So
Speaker 6: you know, I...
Speaker 1: And if you have to explain that to somebody they get mad about it, they clearly don't have insurance because I mean it's been like that forever. Yeah, yeah. Trust me. I hate paying my I you know, I just had to go through open enrollment, and every year when I look at uh, you know, the insurance rates, my head wants to explode.
Speaker 6: So especially with how much fighting I have to do with insurance companies, which is why everybody should call the advocates' injury attorneys if you're in an accident because your insurance and other people's insurance are gonna try to nickel and dime you and pay you as little as they can because insurance companies suck. Oh, that was a good slide in right there. They're gonna love that. Let's play verbicity.
Speaker 1: Well, yeah, just in case the advocates get mad that I was talking about politics. That was politics relating to your jobs, guys. So haunted Vic.
Speaker 6: This Vic is out.
Speaker 1: Hey, man, you have a good one, man. I appreciate it.
Speaker 6: Waiters.
Speaker 1: Peace. All right. Anyone else got any complaints? I I love having these kind of discussions. I didn't plan on ending the show this way. I have a feeling I'm gonna walk out the door and somebody's gonna have called and raised a ruckus, and yeah. Thanks.
Thanks in advance. I might be back for the noon hour of madness and mayhem since you know the modern world has taught people that you know one person's whiny opinion, you know, is worth uh raising a ruckus about. That's what happens online all the time.
One person gets mad about something and they, you know, end up uh creating a major problem for somebody else. So anyway, I guess uh no more complaints. Coming up on the noon hour of madness and mayhem, I am going to do nothing but rock news today. Nothing but rock news, and I'm not gonna offer any opinions on those stories. I'm just going to tell you what's happening in the world of rock, and I'll leave out every band with any kind of political angle. I'm not gonna talk about stained, I'm not gonna talk about system of a down, I'm not gonna talk about uh kid rock, I'm not gonna talk about rage against the machine, I'm not gonna talk about dropkick Murphys. Uh who else we got?
I I don't know. I'm not gonna talk about the the sex pistols. Um make me a if someone would be kind enough to send me a list of political bands, I'll make sure that I avoid talking about any of them and what's happening with them in the news. We're just gonna do straightforward clean rock news for the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem.
If Maddie joins me today, I'll make sure to let her know. Do not offer up any kind of thoughts. Let's just talk about rock and metal music only. All right, bye for an hour and a half. I gotta do the work Jade needs me to do and probably get yelled at. Thank you again for tuning in to the Victor Wilch Show. This program's a production of River Bend Media Group.
